Walking Down To Death

Walking Down To Death is a daily sorrowful walk into the darkness of life.

Where you loose all control.

The sidewalks seem to come alive to eat at your exterior as you hunt for your drug of choice.

This chase leaves you feeling worn and riddled with the demise of your self-worth and self- respect coming to a regretful end.

As a result of this never ending chase eating the bottom of your foot wear.
Loved ones then start succumbing to the appearance of self-dis figuration in their beautiful outward God given frame.

Walking down to death is a dark one that takes more and more from your spirit while inflicting aches and pains for the desired appetizer of the addiction.

What started off from innocence ended up becoming a down payment for your very soul.

Disguised in curiosity, trying to fit in with your friends, with the false belief that getting high was all in having fun.

Will-power has packed up and left you without saying goodbye.

It feels betrayed by your choices that led to demolish it's very existence and it's position to strengthen you.

No more of a party favor's for you as addiction strips you right down to the very core.

Your body aches for more and more and addiction continues to demand for more and more until it can't take from you anymore.

It's to addiction you loose your life and will be pronounced dead to your family and friends.

Your Walk Down to Death is now marked by the enemy as complete.

A precious life lost and gone forever to a tragic end.

Some Thoughts On Painting

My ideas for paintings emerge organically from the process of their making. Painting is a continuum and the plasticity of the medium is its beauty; it can be anything, which continues to evolve and fascinate the more that I see.

We are altered in some way by what we see. Affecting the cells and chemistry of our bodies, images flare internally and externally feeding our hungering brains in a constant flow. Our pupils dilate as our eyes absorb images, we may feel our heart race and our desire shapes what we see. Color elicits a tasty reaction in the back of the throat that originates in the gut - Painting begins in the body.

I begin with a black ground, a deep space, an unsteady void, within which I make something from mounds of seemingly inert and innocuous, yet culturally loaded goo. The beautiful and ugly, the imaginary and mundane comingle as I work with various paint mediums and exploit their inherent differences. I am a sucker for the space that develops at an early stage of the painting and I lose myself to the sensations of material. However unsatisfied with the ease of execution, I then let the painting sit for some time and with distance it becomes less precious and more of a “thing.” I can then see the painting objectively, and an irreverent, animated color and deviant, bulbous, figuration blooms from the morass to subvert and mock, but also expand my initial experience. I’ve found that a steady diet of paintings and cartoons are where everything and absolutely - nothing - at - all may happen and when they digest somehow acknowledge the humor, ambiguity and futility of now.

Painting is ripe with comedy and contradiction; it is an unstable process that reveals as much as it conceals, which always leaves me guessing and wanting more.

IT IS WHAT IT IS an Ekphrasis
Without narrative, isolated as is
moments of figuration..
sunlight on the side of a wall..
frozen in time..conversations of
unheard voices.
Within, stillness and a paradox..
a welcome to the world to come
inside.. to reside.. commune.
This interplay of imagination..
soundless tunes..emblematic
silences..symbolism saturated with
suggestion.
Soft realism where an inner life
slowly cries..gestates..
to lay forever on canvas..the
whole answer..there... before
our eyes.

Real Woman

Intrigued by her figuration
Her breath taking figuration
Her key is her heart
Her comfort is her heart

Dressed in obedience
Fashioned with obedience
Her understanding is genuine
Her package of respect is genuine

Her vision unbreakable
Fame from kindness unbreakable
Her self esteem stands out
Her self control stands out

Her mind nests broken hearts
Her tongue soothes weak hearts
Her knowledge builds a nation
Her love unites a nation

She is expensive
Her ideas and deep skin expensive
Real woman not tattered
Her vision not tattered

Premium Member Think Again

Newborn baby, a result of human figuration?
Have you ever seen a newborn baby?

Cancer victim releasing that last sigh
She reaches her arms toward the sky
Her face turns more peaceful
than it has looked for months.

Car wreck. Everyone should be dead.
Your daughter is the only one saved. She has a broken hand.
Everyone else dies.
You think the paramedics saved her?
Think again.
