Behind the Drapes

I always know when it’s last call
That’s when he stumbles home
He’s armed and he’s dangerous
With nowhere to go
But even in his drunken sweat
He knows his next target -
He shuts the windows,
And pulls the drapes closed

Then he’s yelling through the house
I don’t know what it’s about
I’m behind the closet door
Crouched down on the floor
All I can hear is the sound
Of my heart beating
I don’t even realize I’m screaming
As he drags me out by my feet…

We have barbeques outside
And then he’s Mr. Nice Guy
He has all the neighbors fooled
With his helpful attitude
They never see
The monster inside -
He pulls the drapes closed,
And that monster comes alive

He screams and he shouts
Rampaging through the house
All because of a joke
Our kitchen wall has a hole
I run behind the bed
Scrambling to get under it instead
But he yanks me out by the head…

I wake up later on the floor
Wondering who I am anymore
I feel like a pathetic version of me
No longer brave, no longer free
I dream of leaving him every night
But when I’ve left, I’ve paid the price
I don’t know how much more
I can take -
Maybe if I provoke him,
He’ll end this charade…
I stare at paisley drapes
Tan and red swirl in my face

I look up at the walls
If the walls could speak
What would they say?
Would they be my Witness’s,
Or would they turn and run away?
Succumbing to Intimidation?
Fearing Retaliation?
Would there ever be
Any Validation?
Any Compassion?
Or just more of this
Inaction?

One time I hid behind the drapes
But he found me anyway

Premium Member Night Drapes Slowly

Night drapes slowly around velvety skin
and gives comfort to an unfolding heart
As passion's eyes enclose time, we begin,
to foster love, so it will never part
The quiet vaulted sky reflects moon's glow
and overlays your face in silken gold
That keeps your smile like a frozen tableau
Gentle to my eyes, so that they may hold
Lost, descending in a world uncovered
Two journey to the center of souls, still
To seek delightful peace, undiscovered
and complete the emptiness they fill

The morning will pour across lighter gray
As shades with clear boundaries slip away

The Ape Climbed Up the Drapes

The Ape climbed up the drapes
just to get to the juicy grapes!
The Ape filled up his pajamas
with very sweet creamy bananas !

Maple trees on both sides of Nineteenth Street
		closed down the evening sky.
In a slight uncovered slice a single star
was made to burn the brighter
		by this focusing framework.
I wonder, were your drapes drawn not quite tight
to burn your beauty on the night?

Faded Drapes
Cindy those old deceiving clothes which you
claimed your mother insisted you wear were
nothing but a homeless person's clothing but
could have been faded drapes which might have
been improved with grape stains

You looked wonderful in newer clothes but more
specifically in the newer clothing which I picked
out for and gave to you but I was the observant one;
the one who was not only right for you but also right
about you

Why you obediently wore those ugly drapes before
we met and toward the end of our rightful friendship
is beyond understanding which is equally true about
why you ran away and continue to evade me- if I ever
see you again it just might be in some old faded drapes

Premium Member Black Drapes and Plastic Fingers

Awhile back my soul took a wrong turn
sometimes I wonder was I a tough birth
did I come out feet first
like a blue faced luge runner
banking right then left onto the icy cuff
launching into a starless pit of nothingness-
Maybe your breasts were filled with booze
not enough nurture.
Maybe a bit to much old fashioned strap
from steppingstone mother
for the most minor infractions.
Without love to temper stings
life is just one big muddy slog
void of any spring-

I'm hesitant-simple decisions are difficult.
and that ever present haze of mistrust
once sparkling relations turning diamonds into dust-
Maybe I snapped when that pissed off farmer.
wrapped a dead snake around my neck-
For freeing his herd of cows-now I'm a bit of a control freak.
Wanting to palm butterflies and honeybees.
Maybe It was that fifth grade "teacher"(you know who you are).
With the strong cologne and loose hands-
That made me into a quicksand man.
Everybody I meet gets sucked into the ooze.

I need to let it all go-clean the mental lint trap.
but these sun crushers, present and past.
keep arriving in sleek sharky waves.
Bearing loose plastic fingers and black satin drapes-

Cosmic Drapes

Hay there mister wont you grab that gun
Load it up and have some fun
Everyones just dying for you to make them smile
Yeah yeah
Come on now lets get everyone
To that place where they have their fun
Show them now who’s turn it is to smile

Bang bang!
Haven’t I heard these shots before?
These bullets piercing threw my front door
Haven’t i heard these shots before?
The windows are busted and now the back door

Surveillance tapes
are like cosmic drapes
Swirling around he who rapes
Yeah yeah
Got a cold war deflating in my chest
So just take them out so i can rest
I spent forever knocking at this door
So im no longer your ing whore

Bang bang!
Haven’t You heard these shots before?
My bullets piercing threw your front door
Haven’t you heard these shots before
The windows are busted all over your floor

The Gift
by, Martin Braun 12/05/2018

She came to see me
so early in the morning, casting the drapes open and showering my room with bright light.
Why must she do this? !

This morning she came.
Doesn’t she know heating this room costs money?
Close the drapes!

Today she is here,
opening the drapes. Why is she opening the drapes!?
Stop wasting money. Close the drapes.

9 am, she just walks into my room,
casting open the drapes.
Who are you!? Don’t you have a husband where you live to take care of?

A lady is here.
and she is bringing me gifts! What for! What day is it?
Christmas!? Is it Christmas?

8:59 am, a lady is here.
I don’t know that lady and man in the picture.,
dressed in the wedding gown and tuxedo.

Oh! I was sleeping. You woke me. What do you want?
“She seems familiar,” he mutters.
She leaves, closing the door behind her.

The Sun Drapes the Earth

The rays leave stars in my sight.
I had slept with the moon
What took in was the night
6 and a quarter miles away from the noon
It gave birth to light
In its embracing rays
The sun drapes the earth
Oh! The romance ended too soon
As I wake up in despair
Of my illicit affairs
The rooster had laid bare the fruits
To the eagerly prude eyes.

Premium Member In the chambers of dreaming, where the night drapes itself with crow feathers

In the chambers of dreaming, where the night drapes itself with crow feathers,
A harbinger of the end weeps silently over the meadow towards eternal rest;
Waltz, waltz in the canvas of darkness that seeks its nest.
Though the philosophers of the golden age embrace the darkened knowledge,
Because their echoes have not pierced the abyss with azure lightnings, they
Do not lie quietly upon the pallet of stars that are fading.
Brave souls of the dwindling day, at the last moment, sighing for their transient glow,
Faltering virtues could have waved in the green harbor of dreams,
Moan, moan at the dimming of the dreaming brightness.
Apparitions that captured and hummed the daytime star in its path,
Have learned, as time started to retreat, that their effort melts into twilight,
Do not calm gently beneath the night's canopy about to spill.
Solemn spirits, on the threshold of passing, who with piercing looks unveil the shroud,
Ephemeral eyes could dance like shooting stars and revel,
Spells, spells against the light that has begun to withdraw.
And you, father of echoes, lost on the ridge in the sad tomb of clouds,
Now bind me with the dew of your tears to this tale.
Do not pass gently towards the bed of night that has just unrolled.
Waltz, waltz against the backdrop of darkness that sips its own light.

Premium Member Oh, a shadow of the being in the tattered drapes of day

Oh, a shadow of the being in the tattered drapes of day,
You play upon the stage of the world with a smile borrowed from another vision.
You are a dancer in the whirl of human bustle and retreat,
A delicate weave of feelings, of desires edged between being and not belonging.
In you, the silk of longing for solitude intertwines with the veil of noise,
In an eternal struggle, a duet between the seductive dance of solitude and the chorus of embraces.
A soul, wandering amid the parched love, begging for morsels of serenity,
And the gem-like desire to drift above, unblemished by the warmth that also brings resignation.
Ah, the sad magic of the heart, guided by a will that bows and denies itself!
The calling of worlds, like a silk ladder to the heavens, balancing on the fine wire of mortals' aspirations.
To want with the fervor of the midday sun, to covet with the greed of the dark night,
And yet, spectacularly difficult, to leave behind these desires, like leaves falling gently in autumn's coolness.
Oh, the paradox of being, what a portrait in contrasts you row!
You are both soldier and poet in the same flesh, people of clay with hearts of stars.
You long for everything, within a boundless universe of enclosure,
And in the same stern moment, you feel your hands ache from so much nothing they encompass.
You are twinned in this cosmic dance, a tango with life and its shadows,
Nostalgia and exuberance, delicate whispers and cries of steam in the night.
A magical melancholy that whispers tales of yore,
Where we, the mortals, seek to catch the rainbow without getting wet from its rain.
On this battlefield named existence, the masks fall,
Revealing the harsh truth – we are both masters and slaves in our empire of thought and flesh,
Cosmically imagined maps on skies of feeling and song, the eternal work along the thread of longing.
You're a wanderer among the stars, hastily bound to the earth but with a soul unabatedly in love with the boundless.

Premium Member In the twilight hours, a sense of eerie panic drapes the land

In the twilight hours, a sense of eerie panic drapes the land,
A silent fear, like a shadow of a forgotten truth,
Uncertainty whispers through the crumbling walls of once-reliable faiths,
Institutions that stood like ancient oaks, now hollow, fragile, trembling.
There is a Presidential Election, marked on the calendar,
Yet, the air is thick with a void, a chasm where a leader should stand.
No President, only a chorus of echoes,
Promises that dissolve into mist, leaving the soul adrift.
I felt free and chained in the same breath,
An oxymoron of existence, a paradox of hope and despair,
Like the cusp of an election, when the stage is set,
And all the crooks parade in borrowed honor, their smiles a mask of deceit.
You are beseeched to vote for the right man,
But who among the thieves wears the least tarnished cloak?
Freedom, a gilded cage, its bars forged from the illusion of choice,
Chains that shimmer with the false glitter of democracy.
In the labyrinth of my mind, thoughts flow like a river of molten gold,
Words melt into metaphors, emotions entwine with reason,
A narrative of consciousness, where every verse is a mirror,
Reflecting the melancholy of a world on the brink of change.
I walk through the echoes of broken promises,
Through the fog of lost certainties, seeking a lighthouse in the storm,
A beacon of truth in a sea of lies,
Yet, the horizon remains a blur, the future a shadow of doubt.
The vote is cast, a pebble in the ocean,
Ripples spreading through the turbulent waters of fate,
And I stand, free and chained, in the twilight of hope and despair,
Waiting for the dawn, for the first light to pierce the veil of night.

Mommee's Divine Drapes

Orange

Thy posture made me forget thy drape
Since the pose was a flawsome cape

How dashing is thy saree
With yellow designs add glory

So slender and superb with style
Serene and sweetest smile

Want to see thee occupy great position
That bestows full production

Yearning to make you Collector ace
For thou are my supreme Goddess..!

Green

Emerald green on my deity
Makes her resemble a divinity

Sun being her supreme Lord
Makes her win over tasks hard

Sun traverses all terrain
Like Him is her glory rain

Eternal flow of her fame
Surpasses even all name

May you know have all you desire
May Lord bless you with what you aspire..!!

All Hues

Thy royal grandeur oozes in the drape
For Sun is thy presiding deity

When you stand amidst flora-I just ape
Your manners trust me o divinity

Emerald green or ruby orange
Your grace is just above norm

With every time and season change
You create a new storm

Want to see thy new pictures
In modern attires on all fixtures..!!!
