“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” - Emily Dickinson

Her soul, composed of poetry
Breathed light and reflected mystery
In shadows secreted deep within
Where silence seemed her only friend

Her heart, colored in hues of hope
Prayed peace through the innocence
Abiding where the stillness was lost
In the wonder hiding beneath her thoughts

Her soul, stirred by each make believe
Dreams faithful to the rumors so unique
Rich and vibrant hues of eternity rising
Through the stardust raining across a life

Her heart, erasing every doubt with truth
Beckons for the laughter, the graceful
Sincerity of a kindness so deep and good
Falling gently, like fresh snow, in whispers

Her soul, singing merrily of joys buried
Beneath the silhouettes of sadness and sorrow
Leaving imprints, notes of encouragement
Wounding the doubts with serenity, assurance

Her heart, conquering all the faded feelings
Who guided her to listen to all she’s concealing
The beauty and grace, the inspiration and faith
All of the soft winds who beckoned her to hear

Her soul, heeding the light – the lingering love
Sent down from above, where His kindness
Grows smiles as He gentles the trials, the hurting
Becomes like a long ago dawn who recalls the night

Her heart, aching to understand the breathtaking
Stillness, lasting through the storms, delaying
Suspicions and promising that His way, His blessing
Will bring only good things, miracles to believe in

Her heart – Her soul… they’re an open door
To the marvel, the mercy, the message…
That love from above will always find a way
To pierce the uncertainty with a belief that vows…

Forever is found in the peace that comes to life
Just beyond the kiss of sun, the caress of moon,
Where Jesus walked and talked and gave each one
The opportunity to believe in His everlasting life!

Let His love flow…
	And grow – a light
		That never fades

Oceans started to rise
As polar caps melted
Meteors fell from the skies
The Earth’s surface was pelted

The days grew dark
Radiation was high
Cosmic sparks
Lit up the sky

Religious zealots started fighting
Earthquakes continued to rumble
Mayan cults were uniting
Governments started to tumble

Fear grew rampant
As death counts mounted
Cities were vacant
Safe havens were touted

People looking for answers
As chaos ensued
Religions needed enhancers
Scapegoats were pursued

Prognosticators saying,
“I told you so
The end not delaying
Pray for your soul”

Humanity extinguished
Except for a few
The prepared distinguished
Who knew what to do

A new world was born
In 2013
The old world forlorn
Never again to be seen

Premium Member Bones of a Feast

Trash night
our street is lined with
overflowing garbage cans
because you have to pay x-tra
to have unlimited pick-up
the poorer class stack their trash to overflowing
the mouths of the cans propped wide open,
like a wino purging last nights glass-
     The raccoons will move in
toppling cans -have a grand feast,
the remains of which blow into my yard-
and let me tell you:
this is one
junk food munching
fornicating
unpaid bill delaying
***** reading
corona drinking
mans avenue.
but I don't mind picking up after them...
the racoons

Premium Member Devoid of Sustenance

This night of misery my essence rapidly descending
Tears like summer rain cascading
O for this dark wintry night prolong
Breaking heart aches so forlorn

Circumstance, distance always impeding
In silence apprehensive heart conceding
Devoid of sustenance waiting in anguish
Quiescent alone in sorrow I languish

As posts interweave deferring
Father Time nonchalant delaying
Yet, essence nourish essence elating
Unadulterated love relaying

Tonight, on borrowed wings my heart must fly
To sheltering warm arms in which I'll lie

Tug of War

Push-Pull leaders
demand your gripe
at either end of their
hangman's rope
Your willing hoist
of their own petard,
the Devil's foist
of his own retard.

"retard" in this sense="delay," as in delaying tactics.

1John 5:19.
Luke 4:5-8.
John 17:14-16.
Daniel 2:44,45.

"For tis the sport to have the enginer
Hoist with his own petar, and't shall go hard
But I will delve one yard below their mines
And blow them to the moon"

Hamlet.

I’ll get to the pills with a twist
The scripts filled by my pharmacist
If there’s a hiccup
Delaying the pick-up
Watch out as I might just get pissed

A Night To Remember

In another time when big bands flourished,
And dancing was hugging set to music,
The stars were twinkling o’er outdoor porches,
Glenn Miller was playing his Serenade.

You whispered those words I so longed to hear.
It was too late, you had waited too long.
My heart had turned cold in the delaying.
“I love you” was flat, those feelings were gone.

Time whisked away, and though I was lonely,
Life was as pleasant as young life could be.
Tho as fate would have, I met another,
You always danced sweet in my memories.

I smile, recall that night to remember
Sad “goodbyes” neath a moon in December.

Beckoning Voice

The day’s eyes closing bidding goodnight
Stroking the skies bitter reddish copper
Wind arrested folklore settling low
Lit only by the soft blushing of candlelight
My final stanza is penned for me

The bounty of my lifetime in toil
Strewn wearily about yet I am gratified
Back to the beginning at last I’m beckoned
The wonder of life sweetly consecrated
Eons of drudgery sit pure upon my crest

The symphony strings echoing dully
Life’s eminence now infinitely darkened
Those earthbound lament over me
Their salty sacrifices fall a blessing
The attribute of living sits grimly

Yielding with each burdened exhale, venerated
I fight ahead awaiting those whispers
A final focused moment of noble dignity
Delaying but an instant to express…before
My spirit answers back in perpetual silence

Procrastination Is the Thief of Time

Procrastination Is the Thief of Time

By Elton Camp

I’ve been intending to write this poem for a while
It’s been over a year, so I decided to give it a trial

The title I am pretty sure that I have plagiarized
Didn’t take time to check, so I can’t be surprised

A book of rhyming words I fully intended to buy
Kept delaying, so without it I’ll go ahead and try

But I find that, in writing, far too long I did delay
Now I have totally forgotten what I meant to say

Untitled (And Dripping With Sarcasm)

It’s no gain to waste all this pain.

A disgrace to not always hide this face.

My mind is lame, and it’s a shame,

to feel so numb and not be dumb.

I hate to say life’s not always been this way.

It’s an outrage that I ever lived outside this cage.

Apathy works best for me.

Cold-hearted to myself, the cheaply departed.

Sadness makes me the happiest.

My loneliness makes me feel so blessed.

This bitter resentment fills me with contentment.

My biggest folly ever was delaying this melancholy.

However this ailment is reaching my fulfillment,

Leaving me empty, sad, happy and whole.

My bitterness is such bliss.

A feeling that I would surely miss.

I often lament evading this torment.

This suffering is the greatest thing ever.

I frequently regret never being upset.

Now I daily look forward to the sorrow that’s promised by tomorrow,

and I pray it comes each and everyday.

Without its displeasure I cannot carry on,

for it is my greatest treasure.

My Home Sweet Home

My Home Sweet Home (Part One)

New York City...My city of reality...my city of those broken dreams...my city of the business schemes...new york city....my home sweet home...the only place my heart will roam...so i could never ever leave it alone...new york city...my city of broken homes...my city of broken coble stones...my home sweet home...

New York City...how damaged it seems to be...but more beautiful than people see...so deep with secrets and schemes....that broke peoples dreams...a heart skips a beat...people labled bums living in the street...the weak could never speak of...once rich with love...drunk in the morning...park bench at night to sleep off the drug...
mean mug with a gangster lean shoulder shrug...little eyes bare witness growing up to become a thug...nightmares is kiddy play...innocent people slaying...government playing with our money...delaying our dreams...as they think its funny...but we still love our new york city...no lie...we could move but why..?
Why let those broken coble stoned stoops kill our dreams....? Why let the business schemes take our money we couldve used to fix broken scenes....? We are New Yorkers....home of great talkers....but no action.....beautiful lights....but knocked before we reach our heights....deadly fights....
staged in a park in the dark....different colors are threats...race factor and hate crime...amongst crime itself...yet we are still the greatest city...as silly as it may sound...I will be buried under New York City ground....
New York City......my city of reality....some day we will all see...triumph of humanity....where else would I be....right here....my home sweet home...
I will never leave it alone...

The Verdict

Copyright © 2013
07/17/2013

Skittles and a soda
against a gun in its holster?

One day that scream
will be known as a teen
not a heinous lying Fein

What a sinister ploy and twist
with a loaded gun and no fist?

Had everyone sitting and waiting
doomed by a verdict just delaying

Was this just an optical illusion
or, a devious planned conclusion?

Now, this generation too afraid
wearing hoodies will get you dead

But, the Klan was still glad
hoodies they've always had

A verdict they too saw,
ushering in martial law

Death and Dying

The thin line between life and death
Existence on earth all, that is left
The struggle with humanity
my vote and my cause
Does it end with insanity
me against various laws?
I look at the bridge
the presence of pain when I cross
The resistance of my crossing
none of the fears of loss
Age has found me defenceless
my time quite possibly has come
living the healthy life
wasn't a reason to hold on
All the things that make a life
all are present and there
Even in my memory
at not one cause do I stare
I look at those I leave behind
who's reaching I cannot touch
Before I even leave this earth
missing me so much
My Friend who's waiting waits patiently
with a place far better than this one
I'm just delaying the moment in time
with uncontrolable tension
Sometimes in life comes the moment
when it's best to say goodbye
Looking deep with in my mind
I hope it's all a lie

Premium Member Spring's In the Air

Winter's winking wearily in the sun
gracefully giving ground
knowing Spring will never run

Muted, molted, monochromatic colors turn
vibrant, vivacious, victoriously
welcoming the return

Soft, subtle scents in the air
lilacs lovingly linger
in the tresses of my hair

Pink petals purling to the ground
blossoms blindly blowing
whirling all around

Daisies dancing daintily in the breeze
flowers frolicking freely
after thawing from the freeze

Daylight dilly dallies, delaying days end
encircling, enticing, enchanting
like the embrace of a friend.
