What is love?
Hmm! Love simply is what it is
Maybe, a simple hug sealed within a kiss
A twinkle in the eye or a smile that can melt hearts into butter
If you were to give it another kiss; would turn that butter into a flutter
Lub-dub! Lub-dub! It is as if your heart being reborn inside a sigh! Ahhhh!
That sounds just about right like a cup-cake with full of ice cream on top, yeah!
Or is it just as plain or as gentle as a breeze... Making you feel rightly at ease
Or a big word like a metamorphosis; the turning of a butterfly to a cocoon
Meanwhile without you ever knowing it, you start talking to the moon
Love breathes within a moment; in the touching of the hands
Love speaks in a language only the hearts can understand
Love walks with you when all your intentions are pure
Love listens when you are ready; love is the cure
Love endure and it will always come your way
Love is faithful-ly embedded inside your DNA

Cupcakes on Parade
Lovely yellow, aromatic while it bakes
A lemon swirl dipped in coconut flakes
Vanilla bean or plump blueberry,
strawberry, raspberry or rum-soaked cherry.
A pb chocolate combo too
with caramel nougat winding through.
Pumpkin bold with lots of spice
with cream cheese frosting layered twice.
For a twist, a date banana kind
toasted marshmallow with bacon rind.
Whichever one you like the best,
whichever one outshines the rest,
Each can taste much more supreme
served with some yummy soft ice cream.

Couplet
(Dedication: For Ann and Serene)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ann and Serene create with flair
Cupcakes plus cream as frolic airs;
Choice follows poise in baking spree
As oven noise whiffs fragrance free;
Such fond delights frame fancy here
With awesome sights that favour cheer;
Goodies and more in ample show
As poignant core funds happy glow;
Fun allows touch of magic moves
With creamy fudge in cupcake grooves;
So quickly now brisk baking chores
Bring us somehow a grand encore;
Coffee panache and taste galore,
Carrot cake plush plus ever more;
Two sisters bake a lovely spread
In one good take that tastes so great;
So here we are as cupcakes greet
Our happy stars with joy we meet;
One for the road with joyful taste
As pleasure loads our treasured haste;
This bakers' tale unveils a truth
How love prevails with profound proof;
Words cannot cope to tell enough
Of cupcake scope in sensuous stuff;
I eat with glee such feisty foods:
Fond treats I see that cheers my mood!
what happened to the rain,
warm rains of long ago
when every drop of copper
would surely turn to gold-
they must've dried
upon...a dead mothers pyre
but its a lame excuse to sip cups of blue...
indefinately-completely
what happened to the ribbons,
bright ribbons of long ago
when we licked snowflakes
like sweet cupcakes
and tunneled through the silky snow,
they must've drifted beyond the hills
into valleys of swizzle stick and bouncy pill..
numb to this-numbing to that
trying to keep a steady soul
in a spinning bowl of jungle cats.
what happened to the...
Colors, sprinkles, icing galore.
Warm moist cakes with filling inside.
The cupcakes bake in the oven.
While their sweet smell fills the kitchen.
There's nothing else like this sweet snack.
The nice kid
Giving away
All the cupcakes
Wanting, but forgoing
Forsaking frosting
Himself
Giving away
Love
Silently growing
Older and angry
Waiting for it
And karma
In the outer bands
Unseen
Begging
The heavens
For the ever-elusive
Orbital return
Pretty little missy cupcakes
Butter wouldn't melt
Dances with wolves
In designer moccasin ballet shoes
And push up wonder bra
Ever the feminist
Whiles to be famous
But in reality isn't really a very nice person
Because her beauty is only skin deep
As she is ugly and vacant on the inside
Free verse
Once a week while school’s in session…to make one day ‘cooking free’
Deborah makes a meal which we deliver to Ali and her family…
With this week’s meal my grandpa senses were on full alert
for accompanying the meal…Deborah made cupcakes for dessert.
Deborah’s cupcakes not to be eaten by me turns me into a psychopath…
and immediately brings to the forefront…grandpa’s cupcake math.
I am not a mathematician…just a 69 year old man….
but here’s the way I did the math…follow…if you can.
Ali has three children home…so far the math was easy for me…
since Deborah made 12 cupcakes…each person would get three.
But she asked me to try one…to make sure they tasted good….
being a kind and giving grandpa…of course I said I would.
Well the cupcake wasn’t just delicious…it tasted like a little bit of heaven…
the only problem being….that left the cupcakes number at eleven.
Then again I hadn’t tasted the cupcake when frosted…which I had to do…but then
after eating two of the twelve cupcakes…that left only ten.
Ten cupcakes can’t be divided by four people evenly….(although, admittedly, my math’s not great)….so I ate two more cupcakes…taking their number down to eight.
This way they’ll each get two cupcakes when the dividing of cupcakes is done…
but do they really need two cupcakes each…when all they really need…is one.
So I ate another two cupcakes…then I ate two more…
and when the crumbs had settled…they left Ali’s family with four.
But four cupcakes seemed like such a small amount…
I didn’t want their feelings to be hurt…
So I ate the last four cupcakes….
after all…
Deborah made them an entire meal…
did they really need dessert!
It smells of delicious red velvet cupcakes in the air.
Even though I am diabetic I am also without care,
For I much rather enjoy life as though it is not there.
Today I’m grateful for cupcakes…
although I know cupcakes can’t cure all the sadness on the Earth…
they do have a way of bringing a little happiness
a little joy
a little mirth…
Because
with all my years of experience I’ve come to understand…
it is difficult to be unhappy…
with a cupcake in my hand.
