Cupcakes and Jungle Cats
what happened to the rain,
warm rains of long ago
when every drop of copper
would surely turn to gold-
they must've dried
upon...a dead mothers pyre
but its a lame excuse to sip cups of blue...
indefinately-completely
what happened to the ribbons,
bright ribbons of long ago
when we licked snowflakes
like sweet cupcakes
and tunneled through the silky snow,
they must've drifted beyond the hills
into valleys of swizzle stick and bouncy pill..
numb to this-numbing to that
trying to keep a steady soul
in a spinning bowl of jungle cats.
