Famous Poet Comp

There once was a poet called Jan
who took the Mick out of her fellow man
from the size of his ears
to the size of his wedding gear
she's the limerick writer from the Isle of Man.

Premium Member Beloved Pets- For Comp

(For Beloved Pets competition, submitted June 16th 2015)

Tell-tale marks from your last climb, those claw marks in the paper
removing the wall coverings better than a shop bought scraper
the light pull I have had to change, the curtain cords as well
shampooed the landing carpet three times now to clear the smell
each week another dead rodent and slugs, just one or two
you've turned the space behind the couch into your private zoo
The scratch posts I sent back (good job that I kept the receipts)
since for that job the table leg you find is hard to beat
sticky gunk on cushions, God knows where you'd picked that up
and leaping on the counter knocking off my favourite cup
getting me to climb, at my age, up into the tree
to rescue you but you climbed down and ran off, leaving me
the Fire department had a laugh, but no, you didn't care
but sashayed off, oblivious, long tail held in the air
piles of towels for drying you from days spent in the rain
on next door neighbour's garage roof, governing your domain
the Doctor says my blood pressure is just a little high
I felt I'd lose my dignity if I really told him why
since all it takes it just one look from two bright amber eyes
to soften up the heart of one long suffering old moaner
I love you my Celeste, my Cat, forever-
from your owner x

It's a ball and you kick it
Seems simple enough
But it's more than a game
'cos you have to be tough

I'm not talking a buzz-cut
Or some scars from a fight
For this resolve is internal
Overlook it, you might

You may cuss, scowl or spit
That doesn't impress
Now this game's claimed by women
Swapping shorts from a dress

And the girls that will follow
In their thousands for sure
In competitive joy
This old game has it's cure:

It is teamwork and faith
It is laughter and tears
It is training like crazy
It is banishing fears

There's never been greater
A reason or rhyme
To describe this potential..
Ladies - this is your time

For the men have inspired us
Reaching dizzying heights
But the women converting
So many wrongs into rights

Take tenacity, love
Add a wholesome respect
Work ethic unriveled
With the fans they connect

Crossing boundaries, restoring
All that seemed far apart
The game has been longing for
This feminine heart

Minds Eye Can See Vision Comp

Through the corridors of time you travel
Just a gorgeous twinkle in a tenuous universe
So surreal to see you trip in my minds eye
Twirling into view like a dirvish of arcane times
Chanting in a Murmurous whisper incantations
then with a sonorous thunder clap she's gone
my very own tinker bell as turned to dust
she was more than any grown up's eye can see.

Milk and Honey Comp

My lips may move and the words I speak .
Are just reflections of the people I meet.
Some times I'm strong, some times I'm meek.
But I advise you listen,I don't use double speak
My inner voice cry's out ,never trust a sneak

Suicide Note , Comp Entry

Colour of the rose that I left with the note.
reddened eyes reading what I wrote.
Instructions for funeral readings I want spoke.
my motives and reasons I quote.
suicides my option the knife to my throat.
one single crimson drop lands on my coat.
nothing can stop me now, my depression had no antedote.

Premium Member Subject Mars For Comp

For competition 'subject- Mars', sponsored by Joe Maverick

As I sit with my bucket and spade
looking at the sand castle I've made
no rain comes from the sky
no black clouds passing by
well at least it won't biodegrade.

The wife lies close by she looks cute
sun lotion rubbed on her space suit
she's started to wail
that she can't do her nails
it takes two hours to take off her boots.

Since I bought one, two minutes have passed
but my ice cream is melting so fast
I should have been wiser
it's covered my visor
no wonder I'm getting harassed

Our kids over there have just called
they've been foolishly playing football
but the gravity's low
so how far did it go?
no chance of recovering it at all.

Well, this is one hell of a summer
as holiday's go, what a bummer
the wife won't rejoice
because this was her choice
so next year we'll go somewhere less dumber.

Workwoman's Comp

Some doc sold a dancer named Bubbles
A new set of fourty-four doubles
Men whistled and lusted
She slipped and they busted
But got Workman's Comp for her troubles

Silent One Comp

Silent one a great example of Humanity.
And so rarely uses profanity.
His competitions cause Insanity.
His judging never shows Brutality.
His challenges are never boring or show Mundanity.
His poetry comments never show Inanity.
His comments are measured and delivered without Volcanity.
His poetry has a real grasp on Reality.
With challenges that are always new and show Vitality.
He expresses a really open Mentality.
And even when you fail is comments show Urbanity.
He is not tied to the rules and Formality.
Always fair in judging with real Morality.
and if this effort gets an na it could cause a Fatality.

Premium Member A Friend Like You - Comp

I've travelled a bit
Been to places, seen stuff
Met amazing folks
'til it seemed like enough

On my doorstep I found
Something far in excess
Of my wishes for friendship
If I truly confess

We can talk about love
Or the fanning of flame
But I'm peering much deeper
Again and again

There is something much clearer
If some time you can spare me
It is love but it's not and
I know that's contrary

It's a frequency vibe
It's the bell we can toll
With a resonance heard
By a familiar soul

I won't talk about home
For this is not a place.
Not a season or time
Or a prettier face

Like a journey within
A soul sister or brother
A connection profound;
Being lost with another

Suffice is to say
Come hail, snow or rain
Now I've found you, my friend
Lost with you I'll remain
