Best Come In Poems
Suspended like a lemon drop
on the tongue of night
the moon melts—
there was a child who eyed the sky
through his black lashes crows did fly
Haze, ever present,
on this humid September eve,
blurs the edges of reality
calling forth images
sweet beginnings
the howls of wolf—
the warmth of blood.
a teddy bear he held to him
Ma said the wolf cried—let me in
Fireflies fly near the
sparkler’s
spinning
lamplight
bathes his white blanket in blue.
under the cover he runs boohoo
after all he was only two!

HELLO DR. SEUSS – DO COME IN
There’s a BEAR
On my STAIR,
And I wish it
Wouldn’t STARE!
There’s a WUPBOARD,
In my CUPBOARD
And a DOX
In my BOX,
I know there’s a DARSKET,
In my BASKET
And perhaps a ZUBOON sitting
Next to my BABOON
Who resembles a BUFFOON!
Then there's SCRUB
Who lives beneath my TUB
A pleasant GUY,
He’s from Planet JIY
And taught me to FLY!,
But there’s a pesky GARBET,
Who lives in a JARPET
Within my bedroom CARPET!
I enjoy GRUDGET,
Who’s a tiny CRUDGET,
Who sees to my BUDGET!
In our boathouse,
Is a family of WASCALS
I really love these RASCALS
3 of them love me a lot,
The other three, wish I were not!
Old Mr FUBBLES,
Who blows BUBBLES,
Has a LUTTON,
Who’s a GLUTEN
On his BUTTON!
I also have a XELF,
Who likes to DELVE
On my SHELF
It’s fun living with my sister
Who has no idea,
I keep a ZOBBIT,
Who resembles HOBBIT,
In her BONNET!

Driving past the couple
I could see
They were heading my way
Expecting tea
Now anyone is welcome
At my humble home
Except those two
Why have they come?
She clanks her teeth when she speaks
His nose always running... he eats like that
My stomach turns because she reeks
Her bladder is dodgy, smells worse than a cat
I open the door with a smile
Tea is ready I say with ease
Slurping the liquid she looks quite senile
Have a cake or a biscuit, I try to please
Grabbing the muffin he stuffs it in
Covered in snot, not a pretty site
Started to cough…. is smirking a sin?
Looked at him sweetly saying are u alright.
It is five o'clock time they were gone
I fetch their coats, saying good of you to call in
Sorry you have to go don’t make it so long
Closing the door I rush straight for the gin

Fashion a memory, with our bright winter scene
The morning brought snow, fresh fallen and clean
Find a snug shelter, from the sharp frigid air
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year
Dry your wet mittens, and warm your red nose
Stand by the fire that sparkles and glows
Warm up by the embers, but don't get too near
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year
Stand by the window, there's a new dusting of snow!
The children are playing, while the snow balls are thrown
Watch how they laugh as their voices ring clear
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year
Forget all your loneliness, add a smile to your face
We offer handshakes and hugs, and a welcoming place
A warm place to rest and a meal and some cheer
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year
Come for a moment, or come in for a day
Leave all your cares behind, put your worries away
There is friendship and comfort, to dry all your tears
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year
If there's no one to love you, we have plenty to spare
A haven is waiting, where somebody cares
Please come in and warm up, ....now hang your coat there....
Welcome to my holiday home, at this special time of year

All heaven's hosts rise early Autumn nights
A million stars a-twinkling merrily
The moon reflecting sun's diurnal light
Silhouetting lovers, snuggling cozily
My fireplace crackles, warming slippered toes
A whistle from the kettle on the stove
The doorbell rings; in cold like this, who goes
Come in, dear friend, do not this cold night rove
The stranger enters, shiv'ring head to toe
His face pale blue above his knitted brow
Removes his gloves; into his hands he blows
He would yet tell his tale, but knows not how
Exhausted steps, and then he stumbles, falls
~His story's buried deep within my walls

Sonnet
Shake the snowflakes
from your shawl,
throw it there across the chair,
come and sit down with us all,
we have stories we can share,
Solstice time is coming on
we are gathered here tonight,
that no soul shall be alone,
we will hold each other tight,
lean against the door my son,
barracade us all within,
for before this night is done,
something evil will come in.
screams and moans
may sear your soul,
but you must not turn aside,
God will aid you in your goal,
Keep the Windigo outside!
Hark ,my son,I hear him howl,
on the ridge above the creek,
Windigo,oh fiend most foul,
you shall not gain what you seek!
Okay..............
were you all afraid?
did I spin a scary tale?
well "tis just a joke I played,
oh my,but you're looking pale.
Horror stories are the thing
sitting late before the fire,
don't get mad,
come ,let us sing,
no, I'm really not a liar.
What's that knocking
that I hear?
someone open it and see.....
' tis the Windigo
my dear .............
and it's coming
just for me.

You broke down the door.
You climbed the wall.
You make me feel ten feet tall.
So come on in.
Welcome to my den.
I'll light the candles.
I'll put on perfume and dress just right.
We'll make it through the night.
You'll enter the room.
I'll feel your warmth.
You'll feel my skin.
Please come in.
I'll put on some music.
You'll pour the wine.
We'll have a good time.
You broke down the door.
You climbed the wall.
I'll make you feel ten feet tall.
You howled and cried throughout the night.
You made me dream when you were out of sight.
So come on in.
You broke down the door.
You climbed the wall.
Soon we'll feel ten feet tall.

Drag me away with
hooded lids
to the dark of you.
Give axe to gates
protecting cheerless
spirit under siege.
Swallow me in haste
lest I discover
we cannot.

~Angels Come In Many Forms~
( Contemporary American Sonnet )
Angels come and then they just go
They come and help us as we grow
They take as many forms and shape
as day and night in awe just gape
Angels are always around us
They're not only to help but bless
So many angels are sent from above
From Heavenly Father with love
And any time that you need a friend
Ask God one of his angels send
Because He has created them all
And He'll hear and answers your call
Angels can be just 'bout anyone
Who walks today under the sun.

Sonnet
While I lie awake at night I am sad and start to cry
I think about the things in life I can't change
While some are frivolous other are the gene pool and we all know it is after all the only
public pool where there is NO life guard on duty
In life we can pick our nose and we can pick our friends but we can't pick our family
With this in mine I will say the family jewels are NOT gems
I was just six when I over heard adult talk about family jewels and I wanted some
After all what little girl wouldn't
I loved to play dress up I had 5 sisters I always wore hand me downs
So be careful what you ask for when I ask my mom what family jewels were
She told me I really didn't want any because they weren't richest
and I wouldn't believe her so I ask god for some
He answered my prayers but he waited until I was older 42 and had a family
of my own a son in high school and a daughter in middle school
He gave me hemorrhoids and they were a pain in the a*s
I had surgery but they came back to torture me
Then came brain cancer I thought it couldn't get any worst but I was wrong
I kept forgetting and getting lost so then everyone stays mad at me
Now I have diabetes it was high and now it drops to low when it was highs I could take a pill but now with it to low I can't do anything accept eat to pick it up
thank you mom and dad and grandpa and grandma for my sugar that can't be
controlled
If anything can be said to life and where we land in it
Thank you GOD for letting me live in Mt Vernon Al.
They closed Sercy Hospital which is a mental hospital and let all the people out
Now I feel right at home in this town

Epic
When unsurpassed greed's uncontrolled
King Midas' story be told!
The steps to his stash
Cast his daughter for cash
She's an allegory of gold
Author's note: I had a vivid dream a few nights ago. Part of it included a feeling that I needed to check my personal stash of valuables. I thought the items were locked in the basement. However, when I came to the door to the staircase leading down expecting it to be locked, it was ajar. I opened it all the way, and there was a child coming up the steps. We looked at each other, and the child tumbled down the stairs and appeared dead. It was a terrible feeling. The poem above is one interpretation of what I might have been trying to tell myself. There are other interpretations as well. However, I am left with the idea that our society's focus on the material is destroying our love for each other and our families. This is a huge problem for me and has taken a lot of my thought time over the past few days. Meanwhile, I tell myself to enjoy each day, and I try.

Limerick
A little flight takes off nearby
Oops! It does not drift into the sky;
A tailor bird delves into the nest,
feeds the chicks, the food best
So whenever I step into my garden
I ask them "May I come in?"
Some babblers stare at me sullenly
Oh! They're aiding grownup kids fly.
Umpteen birds "Who's the mom?", I wonder!
"We live in community" they thunder.
So whenever I step into my garden
I ask them" May I come in?
Common crow butterflies glide in the air,
and seek their host plants everywhere;
Finalized the pink oleander as their host plant
Soon, a kaleidoscope of butterflies gonna enchant
So whenever I step into my garden
I ask them" May I come in?
White bubbles encroach the green grass
Bubbles emanate cracking, become like glass;
Oh! A big head with small eyes emerges,
garden lizard raises and starts to diverge
So whenever I step into my garden
I ask them" May I come in?
Squirrels scamper everywhere
Munias, hoard millet seeds from here
Bulbuls, busy eating the worms
Biodiversity works in full term
So whenever I step into my garden
I ask them" May I come in?

The man who made his meddle outta' sand,
came to my hand,
and I kept on begging for a chant,
from god-
the angels,
or even the damned.
This locust creeped'
into that big house by the street,
into the cracks
that leaked out the meek,
caused my tree's their little leafs,
and my cats their skis,
I had no proof to see,
but it really happened to me...
That one day at the Peet's-
that one hour of peace,
the crease in the page had folded awesomely,
at the perfect degree.
The sun sparkling,
my eye's dozily-
crosses into the rolling scheme,
and then I become the poetry,
lust gets forgotten,
power emasculated,
hours infatuated,
sourcrout steak being heated to the core,
girls go out the door,
begging in pours,
become seated on the porch,
sipping tea and eating dessert,
never having to flirt,
always having a turn,
oh yes-
come in and become the stress-
come into the best,
and then take home your vest.

(This dog was an angel in a fur coat)
Angels come in all shapes and sizes
this one was full of prizes.
An Easter gift,
oh! so soft and not stiff.
Boys got her at the pound, and she was all smiles and never a frown.
Thirty pounds was all she was, this angel came with no flaws.
Her perfumed cream colored fur, would make me want to purr.
Lovingly messaged to sleep each night, up and out with the morning sunlight.
Daily she sang her song to the rabbits, this was one of her heavenly habits.
I talked and she listened well, did she think I was under a spell? She loved her blusher make up, it made her rosy cheeks want to jump. Off in the car we would go,
when we came home she would say oh no.
Her angel kisses,
were always there as was her best wishes. Heavenly angel I now need to say good bye, one day I will once again say hi.
