Black Cockatoo
"Black Cockatoo"

I was white
as pure snow cotton
thread through the eye of God's needle

Black
he was,
not Egyptian, more ancient

he walked
in the Dreamtime
with the forgotten people

obsidian

We swam the
well known swan song
like a diamond river snake long

Swimming naked in a billabong
Light I was, white watching black
He shone, glistening a white freshwater...

My Dear Old Cockatoo
My dear old cockatoo
You know that I love you.
You with your sulfur crest,
You by far are the best.

Your pure white, soft feathers
Tell me of endeavors
You braved the howling wind
And found your way across
The Pacific ocean.

Your bold and beady eyes
Tell me of your courage
Your role as a leader
Commanding entire flocks
To pass the resistance.

Your curved and beaky...

The Banana Yellow Cockatoo
crafty moon
brings this
slight chill
in the air
when the
banana yellow
crested
cockatoo flies home
from here to there but
your heart
won't let go of
the air...

Premium Member Little House In the Pine Barrens
I doff my many hats away,
To a lazy sunny Saturday,
Lounging, lazing and lying about,
Doing absolutely nothing but nowt,
Just loving and dreaming the day away.

My love and I have such a home,
Where on such days we never roam.
We sit together on our upper deck,
And all the chores can just go to heck.
And sometimes I may even...

Cocky's Catharsis
This is a true, but amusing tale,
Hope your laughter does not fail,
'Tis a saga of a cockatoo,
Of life, he held a jaundiced view,
At the going down of the sun,
Cocky embellished his own fun,
And at the rising of each dawn,
Cocky's catharsis our ears did adorn,
The parrot kept talking, none listened to he,
Cocky had such a vivid...

Am sure it was a competition
To see who could wake the humans
The cockatoos started the show
With their flamboyant flight
And ruckus callings
joined by the mad galahs
Their screeching an radical swerving
The crow just looked on
Its bland call to high and mighty
For this sight
The kookaburras started to laugh
In a family group
An in joke am sure
Nothing...

Shelley the Cockatoo
Shelley the cockatoo went to the zoo
She made a lot of new friends

When Shelley got home
she roared like a lion
She snored like a bear
She fell asleep in her favorite chair

She smiled as she slept
Many memories to be kept
The lion the bears the monkeys
and giraffes
Will wait until next time for many more...

Far below,
a solitary,
white cockatoo
is flying along the valley floor.
It seems lost, separated
from its flock.
It turns
this way and that
as if following some
scrambled map printed
on its brain. It is so small
and insignificant
set against the immensity
of these mountains.

I can just make out
the ragged notes of its cry
carried through
the deep hush walled
along its way. I hear
alarm and fear...

Banana Yellow Cockatoo Sunrise
hey
my name is
Frederick Jumbo MacWillie
and
i'm just sitting
up here
rollin' on the river
near the banks of
the
Great Mississippi River
and
witnessing a glorious
banana yellow cockatoo sunrise...

Happiness Is
If you want to be happy
get a pet
a puppy a guppy
or better yet
a cockatoo a kangaroo
but if you do
just keep in mind
someone must pick up
what they leave behind
such happiness is not free
it comes with a touch
of responsibility
so here's the news
be wary of which one
you decide to choose
...
