In the dog-days of summer of so long ago
there were bear-hugging moments I like to recall
Like leafing through pages of ram-shackle books,
that are dog-eared, and faded, wearing hound-tooth worn seams
I had a bull's-eye encounter with puppy-tail schemes

There are cat-walks through memories, over turkey-trot trails
wearing pigtails, and Mother Goose, and laughter would peal
Where pony-tailed hairdos would swing like a bell,
and where kids could play leap-frog, and happiness dwells

We would run like the roosters and bull-doze the grass,
picking puffed dandelions, to blow with our breaths
Spreading the catnip and watching it gasp
Grasping the wind, while it wolfed-down the rest

Blooming sweet dogwood would bend in the breeze
Elephant-ears would line every path
With cattails and polly-wogs, we would bunny-hop home
for chickpeas, and monkey bread, and gooseberry creams
Then hug little teddy-bear, in our goose-down reclines
while dog-days of summer would live for all time

Look at that sun shining so bright,
I had such a good rest last night,
I do so much, just love this tree,
this is the best bed I’ve ever seen.

Old oak, old oak, my gentle friend,
I must go now and attend
to foraging treasures for my winter’s nest,
I’ll stage my very own, winter-fest.

Inviting friends to my lovely new tree,
we’ll dine on acorns, walnuts, chickpeas.
Perhaps we’ll have dried apples too,
there’s such a mighty harvest of foods.

Then we’ll bed down, in slumber deep,
in snugly warmth, this tree, we’ll keep.

Years of silence I can't recall
Tears I pant on the scrawled wall
Clothes worn in an open cell
Souls torn, drowning in smitten well

Costumes worn by zombies
Moving as mannequins, not gnomes
Legumes not grown as beans or chickpeas
Roving pass skull watchers of spumes

My heart beating slow, recurring
My voice bleating low, murmuring...

Your soothing eyes I can't forget
Looking into my eyes of regret
Your hands you stretch I can't reach
To cleanse my body and bleach

Creeds of lore I can comprehend, not detest
Breeds and condescend at my weakest
Your soft hair I wanted to smell and comb
Your touch I can sense, I goad that aplomb

I will always remember you as always
On this avenue you watch over me sideways
Each day I walk barefooted without wellington
Your footprints you leave on Kensington...

Mexican Minuanetta

A menu, Annetta, I’m hungry as a bear.
But first, something lighter, tell me, what have you there?
Chips, by the bowlful with salsa as starter fare.
Do bring them A-S-A-P, and yes, I declare
Extra? bring some queso with tender, loving care.

First course finished, once more the menu,  if you please;
Greens, tomatoes, cucumbers with lots of chickpeas,
Hidden Valley ranch, the best dressing will appease.
Iced sweet tea with two slices of lemon, I’ll squeeze.

Just a simple salad will stave my hunger’s chime.
Keep that menu close at hand, for proteins are prime;
Leafy salad down the hatch, now it’s entrée time.

Menu calls loudly in clear meatier voices.
Now for the main course, Bueno! stomach rejoices.

Operation Fulfillment: contentment, my need.

Polla Poblano, with rice and black beans to spare;
Quesadillas, two with chorizo, two with cheese.
Rich cuisine fills me up, I am feeling sublime.
Skipping dessert sounds like the wisest of choices,
Tosh! bring me fried ice cream, for I have gone to seed.

Premium Member The Art of Making Hummus

Let's do this, cooking can be fun
If it's not too hard, you're the one
To win a heart (or two) with food
Admit: it will make you feel good

Take dried chickpeas, soak 'em well
One night is fine, you can tell
when they're ready, they're fat,
increased in volume, how cool is that!

Cook for an hour, that is just fine
While you wait just drink some wine
Throw in the blender, add sesame paste,
garlic, lime and olive oil, to your taste

Do NOT forget cumin, honestly
What cook are you, if you can't see
That hummus is nothing without
Now: for once be very stout

And take your most beautiful bowl
Because you're cooking with your soul
Put the gorgeous mixture in there with love
Sprinkle virgin olive oil from far above

In loving drops, a velvet rain
Virgin oil yes, not the plain
Now invite your love to wine and dine
I bet she asks you: "Please be mine?"

Premium Member I'm curious about Jesus verses

For lunch, do you know what Jesus ate
on the very day that He turned eight?
Barley bread and goat cheese,
onions, greens, and chickpeas,
and for dessert ~ a honey-dipped date.
Here's a question, just between you and me ~
did anyone ever see Jesus pee?
I know of no book where it's recorded,
but was anyone ever afforded
a peek, say, by the Sea of Galilee?

I Love Chickpeas

your chickpea skin
my willing mouth
the mundane things
we talk about
your shadowed eyes
my bright despair
your barbered mane
my tussled hair
four confused hands
touch in the rain

Premium Member Huh, Miss

She slipped from among us
in search of good hummus,
like a whispery breeze
at the scent of chickpeas;
escapes for tahini
rivalled old Houdini.
Her nose for good cumin
was simply inhuman,
her longings, appeasing
on lemony squeezings.
She never found fault
with a good pink rock salt,
and oft was caught splurging
on fine extra virgin.
But she went on a bender,
took a shine to a blender,
sliced her tongue on that trough,
and her hum is still off…

Wheel On a Stick Part 9

The Cinematic Film Treatment as a stand alone element
in the aesthetic revolution we are now not witnessing

Happily Married

An anthropological graphic novel fantasy shot against a contrasty mono tint, color highlighted, claustrophobic backdrop of dystopia among the underclass reminiscent of "District 9" only without the aliens or the police or the the J'oburg location, set instead in the wastelands of Outer Bogomil, where wives are traded for goats or bushels of chickpeas or rolls of copper wire or a good shotgun or a pair of pliers or tractor parts, in an ancient tradition of assuming all value to be computed by the quantity of envy it produces in a potential admirer, who would typically express their covetousness by grinding their teeth audibly while standing inches from the face of the covetee, whereupon both parties begin the ancient bargaining process with a series of coded eye blinks- left right left left right, right right right left left, right left left left, left both left both both, right both left, and so on, sometimes for days when meals and bodily functions are forgotten, while the villagers gather to observe and murmur their approval, or not, of the progress of negotiations, by raising up on their toes and touching elbows with one another in an arms akimbo frenzy until the bargaining is completed and the maiden is exchanged for the goods, whereupon the bride, trussed and gagged and wearing garlands of threaded horse testicles is welcomed into the family of the husband, being dragged by the hair across the threshold, untied but not ungagged, given a broom and told to get to work.

Premium Member The Beauty of the Rainbows

In the summertime there were lots of cars and trucks moving up and down Cherry alley where I lived. Like the local bakery truck, many would stop to peddle their wares or deliver their goods. Their engines were not machined as perfect as today and so, when idling, they would inevitably leak some oil onto the asphalt.
In the late afternoon on those warm summer days, an occasional thundercloud would appear. Those dark heavy clouds would then split open like chickpeas, spilling their contents on us. For a short while, those brief, intense downpours would beat everything into submission, then pass as quickly as they had come. Afterward, the sun would appear from behind the clouds in full glory; puffed up to full intensity as though to say: “if you thought that was something, feel this!” Then she would cast her fierce fire upon the asphalt until thin rivulets of steam would rise from the street. It seemed an upward-bound wagon train of raindrops fleeing the sun's heat; attempting to return to the safety of their cloud.
Behind them they left oil slicks in ever widening circles of rainbow colors.
It seemed a reflection of joy as the oil embraced the warmth of the sun. The circles spread outward like the blossoming of a flower. It was like the thankfulness of a prayer I shared with them for the precious gift of sunlight.
I will always remember the beauty of the rainbows on the street where I lived.
Today, I see people who choose only to visit the dark side of their lives.
The oil slick on their road. For them, everything appears ugly or wrong.
But given that we have a choice, wouldn’t each life be so much brighter
if we looked at things through the beauty of the rainbows.

Pregnancy Tips For the Food To Be Eaten During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the time when the mother’s body needs extra nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Lack of proper diet might affect the baby’s growth. Also, it might increase the risk of pregnancy complications. The body needs additional 350-500 calories each day to maintain the baby’s health. The mothers are provided with many pregnancy tips and one of them is to eat nutritious food as per.

mom and baby magazine provides a list of foods that are healthy for a pregnant woman. Dairy products provide calcium, folic acid, vitamins, magnesium, and zinc. Yogurt is also very healthy for the growing baby. Legumes include chickpeas, soya beans, peanuts, lentils etc. This group of food provides folic acid which is very essential for your body during pregnancy. Salmon, meat, fish oil are also a good source of nutrients for the baby and mother. Broccoli and green leafy vegetables are rich in antioxidants and fiber so they help in digestion and prevent constipation. Berries are a good source of iron and vitamin c. Eggs are also a rich source of proteins. Eating whole grains fulfill the calorie requirement of the body. Avocadoes and bananas are rich in potassium and thus help in relieving leg cramps during pregnancy. Dried fruits are also very good for health. Last but not least, proper intake of water and fluids is very essential to prevent dehydration.
One of the Pregnancy tips says that gaining weight is normal during pregnancy but gaining it in a proper manner is very essential. So it becomes necessary to take a proper and healthy diet.

Israel and Palestinians Won My Heart - How and Why

1. Emirates (UAE) that has not officially recognized Israel, made a historic flight to Ben Gurion Airport to deliver several tons of aid to "Palestinians." WEST-BANK refused the aid. Why? It was not consulted. Gaza - the rival Palestinian authority - accepted the UAE aid. My critics ought to research why the UN has NOT recognized a state called "Palestine." I love Israel & Palestine, because Jesus was a Palestinian and a Jew (best of both worlds, LOL!)

Israel has much to offer the world, its neighbors, and the Occupied Territories. But the excuses by "peacemakers" changed on both sides from Yassir Arafat, to Iraq, to Iran, to Syria, to Libya, to Hamas ... being the "OBSTACLE TO PEACE" (oft repeated, but a LIE). The west may enjoy the fact Palestinians are still paying for what Jews endured during Europe's pogroms, Inquisitions, and then Nazism.

2. I value Israel more than you will know ... not only because it is able to tell the West how they have been racist to Jews (starting GHETTOES in Italy in 1300s, not for Blacks, but for Jews). God re-created Israel to help us be better Christians, because Jesus himself was born a Jew, & observed all the LAW of Moses & enjoyed the Feasts. I hope to do so, which I didn't in 2 visits to The Holy Land (We did honeymoon at the King David Hotel).

3. SEEDS: Israel probably has the world's best and largest collective of UNADULTERATED plant seeds, or non-GMO seed-bank. Why? Israel and the Muslims have been disciplined with FOOD (our weak link). Most of us are experts on the Bible for making excuses to eat non-kosher junk. Israelis eat lots of veggies & dishes from CHICKPEAS - even if the Arabs complain, their food has also been stolen by their nuclear-power-neighbor. I celebrate Israeli agriculture & forestry. I treasure a painting of re-forestation in the 1950s by a Woman's Group, we have at home.

shalom, shalom!

4. O, I almost forgot; Israel got the clever, "useful" Nazis in hiding after Hitler's demise. Those Nazis and "our SOBs" - the phrase used by FDR, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, to protect the dictators of Latin America - we willingly or nilly-willy allowed to hide in the US and all over the Americas, were brought to justice by the modern State of Israel. I am a Christian & I may forgive anything; Israel is not Christian in that sense, and has the support of the world to get Nazis.
