The Art of Making Hummus

Let's do this, cooking can be fun If it's not too hard, you're the one To win a heart (or two) with food Admit: it will make you feel good Take dried chickpeas, soak 'em well One night is fine, you can tell when they're ready, they're fat, increased in volume, how cool is that! Cook for an hour, that is just fine While you wait just drink some wine Throw in the blender, add sesame paste, garlic, lime and olive oil, to your taste Do NOT forget cumin, honestly What cook are you, if you can't see That hummus is nothing without Now: for once be very stout And take your most beautiful bowl Because you're cooking with your soul Put the gorgeous mixture in there with love Sprinkle virgin olive oil from far above In loving drops, a velvet rain Virgin oil yes, not the plain Now invite your love to wine and dine I bet she asks you: "Please be mine?" *** Februari 2, 2017

A way to a man's heart they used to say. But I agree I think that good food wins over everyone. Along with a nice wine of course. Nice words, and thanks for the informative video.

Loved the poem, Darren. Yes, unique, a recipe poem. Having lived for over 40 years in the Middle East, a couple of added points. You can sprinkle the final product with pomegranate seeds, adding color and taste. JH

Ohhh, yes, thanks for that, John, pomegranate tastes wonderful and adds so much colour. I personally love coriander on top, but many simply hate that.

I love the poem but would never try and make it - too much effort when I can get it in the shop and they've done all the hard work... shame the pic makes it look like pale doggy doo lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Jan, you're honestly offending my Egyptian heart. Shop stuff doesn't even come close to the taste of home-made hummus lol :D Ahhh, the best food doesn't always look the tastiest!

First time I've seen a recipe poem! But I don't use recipes! I just eat whatever is in the fridge! Soup mail!
