Best Bring Back Poems
Who would I bring back, if I had only one
Perhaps a great leader, Kennedy or Lincoln
Or I could choose a musical icon
Such as John Lennon or Michael Jackson
Maybe a legend of the silver screen
Maybe Marilyn Monroe or James Dean
All gifts to the world, but the selfish truth
I would bring back the mother of my youth
The mother who, with sublime grace,
Applied lipstick and blush to her ivory face
The mother whose delicate jasmine perfume
Filled my childhood's every room
Whose all-day-long-to-cook beef stew
Was the first comfort food I knew
Her dancing steps, so full of ease
Until the claws of arthritis seized
Her laughter so free, her hugs so giving
Before these days of assisted living
I would return the fire to her hair
And raise her from the wheelchair
And, as I used to, watch her choose
Her dress, earrings, necklace and shoes
Then she'll softly kiss my cheek
Before going out, coiffed and sleek
To her I would give my own energy
To be, again, the woman in my memory...

No Scars
No more wars
No soldiers
Let the battle fields be
Garden of flowers
haven’t we cried enough
how many have we lost?
Fathers, sons, Mothers, daughters
The toll mounts
We kept scoring,
Never cared to keep count!
We try to bury the unknowns story
Chernobyl, Bhopal, kansat,
we cover ourselves in, fame, glory
aren’t we lost in our own selfish greed
Wearing crowns and precious reeds
let us bring back the humanity

I can still remember years ago in the 80's
When the pubs were packed
You'd pay for your beer with Ten pounds and get change back
You could keep a girlfriend for more than two minutes
And knew their name
Shame today men and women are not the same.
The music was great and had a melody
And there was always something good on TV
Like only fools and horses
The A team the love boat such classics
For me.
People smoked in public places
You'd get lost in big clouds of smoke
And couldn't see anyone's faces.
We were the new aromatics and dressed real cool
But looking at old photo's now
It's so embarrassing we looked like fools
The band the Human league came from my town
Yhey sang ''Don't you want me''
The singer had hair long hanging down
The other short
And every where you looked were clones of him
And boy George hanging around.
We had jobs then and money to spend
We'd go out every weekend
With our friends
And follow the latest trends.
We weren't ready for kids or to settle down
We were so young carefree and hang around town
Going to concerts like Gary Numan and the Cure
Waiting hours queuing up by the concert hall door.
Although life was far from fun for everyone
People did seem friendlier and knew how to have fun
We had morals then
The likes we will never see again.

Morning comes with downpour of dazzling dew
That sits on leaves of grass, petals of the flower
And with splendour and glory stains them anew.
Beauty of Eternal image shrinks into finite Hour.
The cruel ray of Sun quivers the grass, the leaves
And the dews suddenly vaporize and flutter away
Like the scattered flying bees of broken beehives.
The parting dew yields to dreary mechanical day.
Though nothing, nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower
Yet tomorrow Dew will return with the downpour
Of splendours and glories of the heavenly power.

Bring Back Our Girls!!
To their mothers and fathers,
to their sisters, and brothers.
We know ONE escaped you,
but we want ALL the others!
Bring Back Our Girls!!
To the people who LOVE them!
To the people who NEED them!
The ones who pray for them EVERY night,
and wake up praying that you've freed them!!
Bring Back Our Girls!!
So that they can one day
be wives and mothers!
And, they'll be doctors and lawyers,
if I had my druthers!
You Need To
Bring Back Our Girls!!
Or, we're coming for you!
You'll find no place to hide.
And, you'll have nowhere to run to!
BRING BACK OUR GIRLS!!
Even with innocence lost.
Or, we'll see you all burn,
No matter the cost!
Bring Back Our Girls!
BRING BACK OUR GIRLS!
Please,... just...
Bring Back Our Girls!

Dramatic Verse
If I could breathe back life into one
Archimedes would have to be the one
And not just for fun.
Inventors to fill a need is what we need
Not ones that serve no need except greed.
Archimedes once re-acclimatised could yet fit the bill
If we give him a pill so he is not yet over the hill
His inventions though blasts from the past
Still apply to today's class.
Every time I turn a screw I think of him anew.
Filling a bath I cross his path.
Shifting a rock with a lever makes me a believer
That Archimedes could yet come back in favour.
Problem solving was his game
I am sure he could still put some current inventors to shame.
For which we are all to blame
For not telling them what we need
And letting them invent for no need.
Maybe that is why we have no modern day Archimedes,
To meet our needs.
To reinstate the original I see as the only way
If we want to save the day.
To avoid any glitch, I will steer him clear of the rich,
So they can not get first pitch.
It may not yet be too late,
If we bring him back to this date,
Our problems to relate
And ask him to invent to suit our need with all speed
To save our planet from our greed.

Ode
Bring back our corruption to us, it is
better than the righteousness we see now.
Situation here has turn sour and bitter,
Dollar rising, Naira falling, Poor men vomit
venom whilst the Rich craze all over the
street for food to feed their troubled stomach.
And the youths has no option than foreign land.
We have more of ants in the land than the
usual Elephant that crowd our street for fun.
No one is alone, thorns on the lips it is; whose
mouth is going to close without him screaming?
Find the solution to the problem not the person causing the problem, solution is our future hope.
Bring back our corruption, we need it back!!
It is better than the white hunger seen in the street,
Hunters hunting the haunting spare of illusion,
Jagabanized faces fashioned to kill our pride.
Bring back our corruption we pray thee our lord,
bring back our black heart and return the whites,
Silence isn't empty it is full of answers to questions.
Bring back the street light to light the street,
bring back the tomatoes from the cow's belly,
Bring back the tooth you took from the child!!
Bring back our corruption! Bring back our pride!!
It is better than the hardship that rape us daily.
We can still bank our heart in corruption than
The Horse of promises made in the blank cheque.
Here is distressed without corruption of old,
righteousness contradicts environmental right.
Let's journey with pleasure without been drained,
we've seen great evil without this arms of government seated at the right hand side of leaders.
We can keep treading in the paths of fools,
just hand over our corruption to us to keep,
it is better than the goodness we see here.

Find me in classrooms
Frantic page flipping in search of
the tools
Who'll one day equip me
So I can make rules
Find me at the helm
Bare-foot and big bellied
Home-makers to boardrooms
....And woman tells you what to
do
Stereoptype make me those
types
Opposing sex finds it perplexed
A timid female's muscle flex
Lady, don't you show your
strength
Woman, lay there
Here curves so fine, her hips so
fair
Born to be spent
Please him, please him
Bear him an heir!
Bear him nations
Honour him with cause for
earth-shattering celebrations
Family portrait
-Picturesque-
Yet I am portrayed...
As part as a future that I did
not choose
They took me from school
Paint me heartless, silent
canvas
Muted muse erase my colours
Deafened maestro sing in
silence
Made of soil, a bag of bones
Numb my soul
So I won't know, how
Wretched prison locked its doors
Who sold my dreams to cement
floors?
Who stole from me my room to
grow?
How I still breathe
I'll never know
I lost my soul
When I was sold

She bares a striking
resemblance to early morning
mist
Pure and innocent her scent
reflects on the faces of those
who devour the finest incense
She has
Coloured the world with her
smile
Captured our souls for a while
The birthmark she carries looks
so much like mine
Bring back my baby
Bring back my child
Oh young sir, have you no soul?
I see dead holes where sockets
once held eyes
I grieve at the sight of your
frown's hardened lines
I saw blinding sweat beads
emerge from your rage ridden
chest
Grotesque, the sight of a rock
where your used to rest
Sir, I know not how your rage
was conceived nor how your
hatred learned to breathe
I assure you, it was not me
Don't punish me please
Give me my niece
Were you not a child?
Did you not tear through the
walls of a young woman's
thighs?
Were you not born into her
warm embrace, cradled,
sheltered one look and she
melted
Why then, is my angel
shackled?
Sir where is your heart?
I too bore a living, breathing
being from these very parts of
mine
My own innermost parts ripped
open when she tore through me,
pushing
As I wailed
Pushing, pushing to claim her
rightful place among the queens
that grace our planet.
What joy!
To have been honoured and
blessed with a fraction of the
Lord's perfect grace
Am I not here to build nations?
Why then Sir, do you deprive
me of her precious face?
Son, have you no sisters?
No teacher?
No mother?
No daughter?
Bring her home, I'm begging
please
So I may teach her to bare sons
just like you
Hard, lifeless structures,
breathing corpses
That exude your heartless
nature
Ones to inherit your venemous
stature
Bring her home please
Let me teach her to bring your
grandsons to their knees
I beg of you,
Let me teach her to bare sons
that will rob you of your own
granddaughters.
Tell me sir,
Have you died?
Has your soul left you?
Do you not hear her cry?
Do you not cringe at her gut-
wrenching screams
Mama, I want to come home!
Mister, I want to go home!
I want to be free
Someone
Save me
Please?

Bring back the astute listeners
to old rooms with fireplace smoke.
Ears open and widening hope
Big ideas going for broke.
Bring back the wise travelers
with their wild gestures and bright eyes
Hearts scarred and penetrating scope
Stories flowing strewn with lies.
Bring back the faithful apprentice
with their youth and much to prove
Hands calloused and ascending slope
Excellent craftsmen on the move.

Rhyme
Every tear I ever cried, was if we were not okay
And sorry love I promise to try is all you needed to say
I promise that I won’t hurt you again, was all I wanted to hear
And only those few words coming from you, would wipe away each fear
I didn't give up on us
I just reached the point where things got too much
You said “let’s work things out, I’ll do anything you say”
I’m saying now go on your way
And find the guy I met that day
I had to step away, so you can find yourself
To let you form a clearer picture of your life
I know you love me and yes this is hard
Find what you need and see if I'm that missing part
I don’t like who you became
Though my heart still shouts your name
Go out there on your way
And find the guy I met that day
You can fight at winning back my trust
Be the guy with whom I fell in love
I had to do it and it broke my heart
Of which you form the biggest part
But now is not the time for this
You need to go and find yourself first
You got so lost along the way
And let go of the guy I met that day
I couldn't float in your bubble no more
I couldn't hang on a string completely torn
I couldn't fight alone no more
And I know I needed to close this door
‘Cause all the wind that was coming through
Completely tore my heart in two
I can’t be with you while you are so lost
This is your time to fight for us
So get on your way
And bring back the guy I met that day

they are innocent and gentle
going about their normal life in their
school
kidnapped and deprived of their
fundamental human rights
so inhuman and barbaric
still causing panic
over 200 of them were kidnapped
ever since then nobody can even take a
nap
taking to the streets and chanting...
"Bring Back Our Girls"
it saddens me that after about three
weeks
all efforts to bring back our girls are
still not yielding a positive result
our girls should be free again in no
time,
peace must return to all the four
corners of the nation
pray for Nigeria
a lasting solution to the situation is all
we need

I looked through the photograph album.
I scanned through the pictures from my last trip to Maryland.
I came across the last pictures ever taken of my grandfather.
I then found a set of pictures that had been taken at his funeral.
I sprawled out on the floor, and stared up at the blank ceiling,
And remembered all of the fun times I had with my grandfather,
The boat rides, the carnivals, and watching him behind the bar.
I used these faint memories to make me feel as if he were by my side.
His presence existed.
It was a wonderful reunion.

Bring back Nobuhle
Why did you keep her body
She's gone let us bury her with dignity and respect
Bring back our sister
Why why are you keeping our sisters body in your country?
Why should we suffer in oder to get her body?
Why there is United Nations if we are not united?
Why should we be happy if our sister is not in our country?
God God help us
Help us to bring Buhle back in South Africa
Shembe please help us bring Buhle back in South African
We need her body
We need her in South Africa
God listen to us
Wipe our tears
Make them hear us
Oh dear God
