Notes About The Poem
Not my best piece by far. Times were more about excellence before the industrial revolution. Harder sure-- but young people had more need to learn and listen.

Daily 39, Bring Back the Old Effort

39
Bring back the astute listeners
to old rooms with fireplace smoke.
Ears open and widening hope
Big ideas going for broke.

Bring back the wise travelers
with their wild gestures and bright eyes
Hearts scarred and penetrating scope
Stories flowing strewn with lies.

Bring back the faithful apprentice
with their youth and much to prove
Hands calloused and ascending slope
Excellent craftsmen on the move.
