Bonfire night.  Oh what a fright.
A thousand explosions in the moonlit night.
The blackened sky lit up with little lights,
Like a Christmas tree, on November 5.


Guys with forks and knives eating burgers and fries
And hot dogs with the gals in front of the fire.

when fireworks first lit the night,
streets that were dark in shadows,
now suddenly fulsome and bright.

Bairns scattered as the bangs blew o’er us,
we giggled and ran for our lives,
and clutched as the noises grew louder,

Catherine wheels
spinning round
a visual delight

Guy on top of bonfire
soon is well ablaze
warming cold hands

Display now done
kids head for bed
to dream of it again...
