Best Boil Poems
~ Those days of prime 'neath skies of apple wine,
transformed infatuation into hope,
while nights of Spring, beneath the stars divine,
inspired two vernal lovers to elope.
When fervor waned and solstice peaked the sky,
those days were singed and weathered in the broil.
Their days of Spring soon seared and withered dry
as ruddy skies were bleached in Summer's boil.
But as the fervid pace began to slow
and swelter chilled beneath an Autumn glaze,
their golden embers kindled to a glow
as tempered hearts redeemed their youthful ways.
The rage of Summer simmers to a hush
when Autumn paints the sky a golden blush.

Sonnet
The leaves were turning red and gold;
And frost was in the air.
When they rounded up the Acadians,
From Miquelon and Saint Pierre.
It was a time for groaning;
A cry from Cajun lips.
When they rounded up those Frenchmen;
And loaded them on ships.
So they came to "Louisiane;"
A strange and far-off land.
But thrived mid pines and cypress.
A hardy, cheerful band.
They learned to build the pirogue,
And find odd sorts of meat.
For in the swamps of "Louisiane";
The Cajun had to eat.
They learned to cook the Gumbo;
Which is a special dish;
But key to their survival;
Was a little Red Craw-fish.
The "Mud-bug" some folks call it.
But it's cooked with lots of love.
It's found in shallow water;
Which the South has plenty of.
It is a time for dancing;
It is a time for fun.
When the Cajuns get together;
And the the Red Craw-fish are done.
You boil them in some water;
And throw in lots of spice.
Some corn and some potatoes;
And some ice tea would be nice.
The Cajuns love their Craw-fish
Though it's been 200 hundred years.
Since they left their home in Canada,
And cried those bitter tears.
But the Cajun is resourceful;
Making use of what he can.
He thrived to spite the English;
To prove he was the better man.

Tear the thin membrane.
Suck the juices from within.

Baby red potatoes peeled
Fresh corn from the field
With pink shallots in the pot
Sausages add zing
Then the shrimps go in
Seasoning
Yum

Salt a mess of fresh blue crabs
Steamed in a beer broth,
with onions and Old Bay spice.
Mix vinegar with
Worcestershire sauce.
Pick, dip, eat.
Treat!
note: Have plenty of cold beer and paper towels on hand!

You’re at least a well wisher, so I thought
b’cos of you, I won’t be what I’m not
you’re the grand gangster of your backyard, so what!
your hate is impressively dynamic
the flames- to others you want to transport
the fuel of anger inside of you is quite a lot
boiling a soul which has long been hot
In your whole life, I’m just a dot
my scored goals shouldn’t be that significant
as for this challenge, heavy ammunition I’ve got
hence you can do me nothing so yourself you should sort.
Grow up and this mess inside you please abort
anyway its your choice
cos the ball has always been in your court

LOW COUNTRY BOIL SOUTH CAROLINA STYLE
Potatoes, corn, onions, sausage, shrimp, and crabs
Boiled together to perfection
Old newspapers laid on the table
All ingredients dumped together
Careful, it's hot
YUM!!

take some shrimp, and crabs
and corn on the cob
add smoke saugage, crawdads
and maybe a lobster and clams
boil it till the ingrediants
turn bright orange or red
through it all on a table
and make sure that all are feed
no plates or forks
napkins thats for sure
make sure all the shells
are properly disposed
when the parties over
and everything is gone
then you know forever
what they call a low country boil

My grandson who lives with me
Has a boil on his __Uh tailbone
He is in terrible pain because
He is all alone ...can't sit at
The computer or sit to talk
On the phone..can't go anywhere
For he would have to lie down
In the back seat in the car
He's moaning and groaning
And ill as a trapped cat
But don't call or come over
For he wants to suffer alone

A COUNTRY BOIL
Get some fresh swamp cabbage,
And get yerself some ham,
Get yerself some snap peas,
And the biggest pot on hand.
Boil it up together,
Over a nice slow fire,
Until it's all real tender,
Then take it from the pyre.
Don't forget the seasonings,
Just salt and pepper's fine,
And serve it up with cornbread,
And folks will stand in line.
(Swamp cabbage is the heart of a Palmetto tree)
(My mom likes to add a dash of Franks Red Hot Sauce to hers.)

My Low Country Boil
Filled the cauldron, lit the gas
Added shrimps, sea bass
Spices, herbs - can’t be too much
And now my own touch:
I pour in white wine.
All will be
Fine!
