Best Bigs Poems
Take off your pharaoh’s mask, stay awhile.
Be not uppity for it does not suit you.
I like honesty,
For who does not?
Throw off your walls – the little ones and the bigs.
Toss them aside, for they will do you no good here.
Conversation is real.
I am your listener.
What chains of madness has wrapped your tongue?
How long has it been since you felt your bliss or
Understood what your heart wants?
Sarcasm and off putting behavior will do you no good.
I am an expert at helping your inner child
Find her way out, moving toward the light
Of her own soul’s opportunities.
And who does not want that?
Truthfully?

We have Cousins Camp in Kansas City in the summer.
Any grandchildren who cannot come, says, “That’s a bummer!”
One year I let four of the bigs fill a garbage can up with water.
Each jumped in their own “foxhole” and played throw water balloons at each other.
We decided to paint the garage walls up and down with beautiful cartoons.
Making a delightful experience to remember for many moons.
The dog and cat were both in hiding, almost every day of camp.
The music was on volume high, I couldn’t for sure say what amp.
They laughed and cried, and fought, and yelled, and gruffly wolf-howled at the moon
My husband wondered when they were going, it would not be so soon.
They tie-dyed shirts, took off their clothes, chalked the garage, and learned to sew.
Grandpa came out and yelled, “Please Stop! Cease! Desist, Go on home, and Whoa!”
He got slathered with wet garbage can balls, for his trouble, which sent him back inside.
He and the dog and cat, and every creature with smarts, were doing their best to hide.
We had laughed ourselves silly as we threw gigantic and enormously wet water balls at his head.
By the time we crept back into the house through the sliders, he was fast asleep and we were ready for bed.

In Florida donuts all ‘round —
the whirlpool of kids as “bigs” frowned.
The force of the push
did wimple their tush
and throw them all off and they drowned.

I have a fond memory
of days spent on grandpa's farm
and helping grandma
early in the morning we collected eggs
and fed the chickens and other littles
grandpa fed the cows, horses, pigs,
and a donkey and all the bigs
there was a rooster that liked to chase me
and the donkey made the loudest noises
that I had to cover my ears
later, in the morning I helped grandma
in her vegetable garden
we picked vegetables for lunch and supper
how grand that seemed to me
no grocery store just pick it from your garden
and in the afternoon I followed grandpa
as he did his chores asking a thousand questions
often, he would burst out laughing
the most wonderful thing happened
he gave me a pony just new born
and then, it was over as grandpa was
called to Heaven suddenly one day
I stayed with grandma as she mourned
I would stroke her hair
and kiss her cheek and I cried with her
she had to sell the farm
and find homes for all the animals
even my precious pony went to a new home
and I was allowed to visit him
but he was happy and so I let him go
and that part of my life was over
though the memory I will keep

Light Verse
Once upon a time,
There were three Little- Bigs
(They were short, but fat.)
They knew the hungry wolf
Would like to pick them up,
And maybe score some ham,
So the three Little-Bigs,
All went to different places,
To slim down their
Porky butts...
The first Little-Big went
To "Gold's Gym"
Figuring diet and fighting skills
Would keep the wolf at bay...
But the wolf was a Black-Belt,
And had his Pork and Beans...
The second Little-Big,
Searched for better means...
So he got a bullet-proof vest,
But Mr. Wolf did not need a gun,
He bite off that Little-Big's head,
He thought it was great fun!
Our last Little-Biggie,
Bought himself a knife,
When Mr Wolf approached,
He took the Wolf's evil life...
So if you have to fend off a wolf,
Keep your wits real sharp,
Use your shiv on his neck,
And cover his body with a tarp

Imagine if the only non-destroyed manuscript in a thousand years are emojis and
text shorthands?
The only printed missive left is what we write to each other on a social media site,
and a Thesaurus.
Space invaders would have this to say
"What a lovely society; always using kind words."
"Perpetually saying nice things to each other about their writing."
"And look how darling they were. Look at their sweet tiny selves."
"They were less tall than a speck on the speck of a speck."
"What a great job they did using such sweet words."
"This must have been the kindest, loveliest most upbeat society."
"Whatever took them down?"
"What could have possibly eliminated them?"
"Are they still around, hiding in a crevice of an oak tree or a flower?"
"Let us all spread out and find them. They can teach us love."
"They can teach us respect, they can teach us niceness."
"We could learn much from these uplifting, upbeat, positive littles."
And they would look for days, while the terrible Bigs misunderstood,
trying to hunt them down, and hurt them, due to their fear of anything
different or unusual.
But they would keep looking, not detoured in any way, understanding the reason to find, figure out, and emulate a society like this where everyone built up and applauded for everyone else.

Buy me something?
Please! Please!
Some little thing.
I will if you kiss me.
She kissed me gently.
I love you.
My choice?
Yes!
I bought her a rattling toy.
She laughed and cried at the same time.
You have lipstick on your face!
He, he!
Autumn still gilded the streets of the city.
She was happy.

Astronauts sleep like bats
Hanging from the ceiling in bags
But this does not tell us about astro-cats
Do they sleep in cots made of rags?
What about astro-dogs and astro-pigs?
Are their bunks teeny or the biggest of the bigs?
Has there yet been an astro-horse?
Political correctness says there should be one of course.
