Premium Member The San Quinton Kangaroo Rat (Endangered Species)

Arriba, Arriba as Speedy Gonzalez would say
The San Quinton Kangaroo Rat is dying away

Baja California is where they do reside
On a little strip of land just 100 meters wide

Due to agriculture and progress it’s sad to say
All but nine-miles of their habitat was taken away

Truly nocturnal they only come out at night
Strongly territorial they’re ready to fight

Once numbering in thousands now 30 are left
How long can humanity go on being deft?

They bathe in the dust so its sad but true
In captivity they last just one day or two

When they are threatened believe what I say
Two-meters at a time they go hopping away

They mainly eat seeds, fruits, insects and such
Amazing kidneys allow them to not drink very much

They rarely drink water because these words are true
Their kidney’s are four-times as efficient as the kidney in you

The odds they will rebound are far less then slim
San Quinton Kangaroo Rats fate is looking rather grim

Even if you don’t hold rats dear to your heart
In the overall cycle of life they play their part

Every species on earth fulfills some sort of need
The San Quinton Kangaroo Rat regulates the diversity of seeds

Plants, insects, ants, and birds need them to survive
Without the San Quinton Kangaroo Rat they cannot thrive

Arriba, Arriba as Speedy Gonzalez would say
The San Quinton Kangaroo Rat is dying away

Being one who spent years in San Quinton this
endangered species caught my eye. Reminded
me of the jail house mouse that would frequent
my cell. An odd sort of connection I'll admit but
rather interesting I reckon.

SONIDOS DE LOS TAMBORES DEL RÍO
COMO EL SONIDO DEL BEAT VA, TUM, TUM, TUM
A medida que el sonido del tambor late boom, boom y boom
Corriente de las aguas del río fluyendo;
Bajando los valles gritando.
Fluyendo donde puede tragar;
Las aves descienden, picoteando los cuerpos de peces que emergen ahora flotando;
Las olas gritaban los nombres de los que se alejaban, se escapaban;
Olas de las aguas aguas poco profundas turbulencia aguas agitadas;
Evita que la premisa diga
Corriendo por la corriente corriendo contra los troncos contra las orillas del río
En voz baja oímos los tambores de las olas que golpean en sus orillas;
En silencio oímos los tambores tum, tum, tum, boom, boom boom;
Tum,
     Tum,
        Tum,
El sonido de los tambores de río;
Hacer peaje
Los sonidos de los tambores de río, llamada;
Están llamando nuestros nombres;
El sonido de los tambores de río;
Beat tum, tum, tum;
Los sonidos de los tambores de río;
The sounds of the river drums;

Im flachen Wasser
Ernährt die hungrigen Enten
Wallendes Algengrün

In shallow water
Nourishing the hungry ducks
Floating green algae

En agua baja
Alimentando los patos hambrientes
Algas verdes flotando

A Decloration of War Rap Lyrics

I tell u what shell b the first to tell you
Tim is crazy he aint even jealous of the devil
he gots propellas on the metal
Rest aside those doubts about me
weapons of destruction I don;t even trust in
Whitesqualls Rise up & swallow yall
Im taking chances riskzs and consequences
and im calling that,,, sacrificed chrome polished brass
and im calling chris competition demolished
Im on a baja in a Hallor
Working hard for the heart of her daughter
Sheep for the slaughter dont even bother me
Yes im a legend your just thinking like a protégé
Well geuss what ? my son is my predecessor
I say " Que paso Senior to her step farther"
And me & her brother did a little dirt together
Yes i was like a pirate that burried Treasure
Then i came back as a Survivor On a Glider like Mcgivor
I'll take you to the cliff if u think ur stiffer
I sniffed her then she pist on my terrietory
Your a Teratorous Im the Astroid headed for u
Im a Hailey Im a ****ing comet
You’re like the Red Foe I’ll put cleats on and crush you
Well Im despondant when you stutter when you comment
Eminem dont u ****in call me
Theres a slim chance that u could ever understand a standard
Well u antsy u better go read the ****in manual
Or what about the instructions, chrome never made me stronger
And you think u lucky go ahead and trust it
Gods the only thing i ever trusted in
as i slide in the night in a maroon mustang
i shine like emeralds dipped in crushed diamonds
I had her heart the whol;e time good luck in try in to find it
shes ****in mad cuz i play and splash in the light years
well Im not sorry for GOD being my Guidence
Smaller stars dye for the brighter star Rising
We are Warriors your women in the village crying
AS we stole your pony
Feel the power of a Stallion chasing the scent of heat in a Filley
Hoofprints pounding in the earth and you mistake them for the sound of thunder
Im picking a fight Im talking calling you out to box me
With no weapons in my hand I fight face to face like a man does
Your English Bulldog Im American Pit, I’m like George Washington and Congress
When they signed The Decloration of Independence, The pen is mightier than the sword
It took the pen to entice yall, yall brought ships and thaught yall was goin faught us
Im like my Fore Fathers I still piss on the title of you ****in LandLords

Premium Member Anacreontic Verse the Grunion Are Running

Oh summer moon
your soft light
highlights my hair,
makes me aware
of the ocean tides
when the grunion
run at very high
tides, as females
dig their tails
into the sand to
lay their eggs.
Fertilization
from a male
occurs and after
ten days with the
next set of high
tides, eggs hatch
and young grunion
are washed out to sea.
So come with me
tonight, let’s have
some fun because
the grunion are
running and I long
to be with you
on the sandy shore
grunion hunting
once more.

Anacreontic Verse 4 - Poetry Contest - Sponsor Edward Ebbs

Grunion are two fish species of the genus Leuresthes: the California grunion, L. tenuis, and the Gulf grunion L. sardinas. They are sardine-sized teleost fishes of the Atherinopsidae family of New World silversides, found only off the coast of California, USA, and Baja California, Mexico, where the species are found on both the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California coasts. Many people enjoy catching grunion at events called "grunion runs."

The Children Wait On the Shore

the children wait on the shore
eyes fastened to the horizon
behind them stand the women
with a gaze far more serious
all impervious to rain and wind
the hurricane had turned inland
last night it was moving north to Baja
the fishermen left with ease
it would soon be gone
yet, early in the morning, it moved east to Nayarit
chaotic nature, in the end reigns supreme, it always has
in the distance dots appear, fishermen driven home
as the storm rages over them

children and women frantically search
the returning pongas for any familiarity
as the fishermen struggle valiantly in the waves
tonight some prayers are bearing fruition
while others were lost to an angry sea
a storm none could predict
nor ever will with certainty
the candles burn at the feet of the dead
now plaster saints, imploring continues
long into the night, a chance of perchance
that bird that sings in the worst gale

morning brings the tolling of church bells
amidst the devastation
faces who will never forget that chaos
has no favorites
only illusions, as matter, may well be, Berkeley rocks
the luck of the draw, despite Darwins' wishful design
the ensuing fluctuating schemes of pandemonium
desultory forces who at best are deficit in reason
or are they, who knows the breadth of creation
a constant reminder, the precarious hold life has
how delicate the day we the biota share
how precious life is

i learned that long ago from a little tippler
leaning on a dying sun
toasting with manzanilla the heavens above
cursing some matelot beneath her labored breath
now the nobody we all are when the light extinguishes
receding within into singularity
and whatever wormhole we exit will never matter
nor the dimensions therein
gone, as the smoke from an extinguished candle
escaping forever into the entropy
where matter never perishes

   Fergus Falls 96 The Patient Stones

how often in my writing i see Emily Dickinson appear....i have often fantasized about pursuing her heart

Truth, Falsehood, Translation of Carlos Bousono’s poem : Verdad, Mentira

Note: I've tried in vain to upload, since November 2, 2013, the following poem: "Words uttered in a subdued voice in order to constitute a dedication, Translation of Carlos Bousono's poem: Palabras dichas en voz baja para formar una dedicatoria", so if Soupers wish to check on it, go to ZCommunications.org; OccupyPoetry.net, PoemHunter.com or PoemsAbout.com. Many thanks. T. Wignesan

(Quotation : « …sino esencia real que al tacto obliga », excerpted from Lope de Vega’s sonnet, « A un secreto muy secreto », 1634 in Bousono’s collection : Invasion de la realidad. Madrid : Espasa-Calpe, 1962. I’m not quite sure who the persona addresses : Lope de Vega, the most prolific playwright and sonneteer the world has known, some one else, the poet himself or the persona unto itself. Not that it matters, really ! T. Wignesan)

With your truth, with your falsehood, left alone,
with your incredible reality experienced,
your invented reason, your consumed
yet inexhaustible faith you raise high in the open ;

with the sadness in which you perhaps roll on
towards a haven you never felt attracted
with those enormous hopes destroyed,
the re-constructed like the sea its waves mend ;

with your dreams of love which never become
so really true like the sea suspired
with your over-charged heart which is born

dies and is re-born, resuscitates and dies, look
at the immensity of reality because there lies open
the source of all your truth and of all your falsehood.

Premium Member The 'smoothies' Diet

~~~ The 'Smoothies' Diet ~~~
I've discovered the joys of 'smoothies' as a diet
and if you're counting calories, you just might want to try it.
Start with milk and ice and water and whatever you may bring.
With mine, I add a little something ... just to give it zing.
To my strawberry smoothies a little Baja Rosa I add.
That extra touch of flavour is guaranteed to make you glad.
To a pineapple smoothie I find it needs a little something with kick
so a couple of ounces of tequila seems to do the trick.
Mocha latte smoothies are just instant coffee, milk and ice.
So add a little vanilla and some Baileys to make it nice.
Yes, this smoothies diet is great and its healthy to boot
and even if I don't lose any weight, ... I really don't give a hoot.
Escatologia
Levanté mis ojos
y todo cuanto vi fue
un incendio de cruces en
la parte baja del puerto.
Entonces sentí
en el alma la angustia
de un ángel ***** que
gritaba grandes cosas.
Rebusqué entre
las piedras una angosta
hendidura para ocultarme.
De los pantanos
neblinosos salieron
precipitadas hordas
de escorpiones armados
de pestes y de
temerosas desgracias.
Como la sombra de un
silencio salvaje,
sobre la copa del sol,
entonces la luna vertió
todo el tejido de su
nauseabunda sangre.
Dein Schatten/ Your Shadow/ Tu Sombra
Verweile nicht,
Bleib' nur nicht steh'n,
selbst wenn die Welt um dich zerbricht
Es wirds stets weitergeh'n
Die leeren Straßen
auf und ab
folgt dir dein Schatten schon,
senkt sich die Welt auf dich herab,
verliert sich Ton für Ton
Geradeaus
führt dich dein Weg,
kein Zweifel nagt an dir.
Dein Schatten geht stets mit dir mit,
und folgt dir stets auf Schritt und Tritt
-----------------------------------------------
You cannot stay
Don't hold your way
Even if world around you breaks
Life will go on
No matter what it takes
Abandoned streets
And up and down
Your shadow follows you, will stay
When worlds fall down on you
And sounds will fade away
Right ahead
Will lead your step
No doubt makes you feel low.
Your shadow always follows you,
Wherever you might go
------------------------------------------------
Que no resides
Y no te quedas de pie
Aunque el mundo se rompe alrededor de ti
Siempre se pondrán a la
Y que nunca lo olvides
Las calles vacías
arriba y abajo
Tu sombra ya te sigue
Baja el mundo sobre ti
Se pierde tono por tono
En línea recta
Tu camino te lleva
No hay duda que te roe
Tu sombra se queda siempre contigo
Y siempre te sigue a cada paso
I Wish I Weren'T An Orangutang
I WISH I WEREN’T AN ORANGUTANG
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
I wish I weren’t an orangutang, living as a captive in a zoo
Orange stringy, hairy body, is this the best nature can do
Gangly arms, puffed cheeks, a face you can’t appreciate
A lonely solitary life longing for a willing mate
I have an adorable look, when I’m still small n  young
The children love it, when I grin n overlap my tongue
They love it, when I flash my teeth, while sinking my jowl
I puff up my cheeks, then let out an ear splitting howl
I’m just a barrel of laughs for them, but what about me
I’d love to have the freedom to go from tree to tree
I long to live and function in forests dense and hot
I’d forage the treetops eating mangoes at each spot
I’d build myself a new nest bed of branches every night
I have to pick the tree limbs, that can carry my weight
I’d wake with the sun and begin, an unending search
To locate a willing female with whom to share my perch
But that’s all just a daydream never to reach fruition
Cause I’m just a show piece, to be seen with paid admission
Would it not be great, were I a horned pacific puffin
Spend time in Russia, then over to Alaska for some fun
When it gets too cold I’ll head south to California
How great to be able to perch in a majestic sequoia
Then onto Baja, where the fish are there for the taking
Venturing far and wide will be an annual undertaking
Absorbing the vistas along the pacific palisades
Swooping and diving without branches as aids
Well I’ve just been awakened from my daily dreaming
The gates are open and I hear the children screaming
Well, back to the old grind, I’ve got kids to amuse
But being a horned puffin, a dream I will never lose
We all have duties to perform each day
But, if I were a horned puffin I’d fly away
Los Mocosos
Al completar trece, decidi lo mejor seria no crecer. No sere el primero en morir
como martir pues la pobreza tal vez me convenza que el aire ya no es gratis.
Mi casa no esta hecha de una caja fuerte ni tampoco se encuentra debajo de un
puente.
De pelo *****, tez café, feo, estatura baja, no enano, sin almohada.
¿Mi valia? 30 piezas de plata.
¿A quien sere vendido despues?
A veces frustrado en confusion sin salida con remedio al silencio.
Me pelizco el pellejo porque no quiero estar aqui en carne y hueso.
De payaso, con risa por fuera y  susurros de lamento por dentro.
La recuerdo solo en imagen. Atento al sonido de su nombre. Al olor de su
perfume.
La busco y no la encuentro.
Esperando oir una buena excusa, mi fotografia se encuentra detras del carton
de leche.
¿Que te parece? ¿A quien sere vendido despues?
Te Necesito
Te necesito. Todos anhelamos expresar la importancia de ciertas personas en nuestras vidas; especialmente, cuando la persona es un interés amoroso.
 de las cosas más hermosas que alguien puede hacer por ti es satisfacer tus necesidades ... tu necesidad de amor, tus ganas de besarte las ganas de abrazarte ... quisiera decirte que daria  todo por estar una vez más entre tus brazos y decirte en voz baja que teamo y que no pienso perderte esta vez por mis herrores perdóname no puedo vivir sin ti .... me estoy muriendo por mirarte una vez más antes de morir mi mundo se me caba .... no se como aceptar que jamás podré besarte y decirte que teamo quiero poderte verte por última vez...Dios Perdóname mi alma está en mil pedazos meniego a perderte meniego a no verte nunca meniego  a apceptar que lo nuestro ya acabo y que tú jamás me vas a perdonar ... estoy llorando lágrimas de sangre que me están matando lentamente ... adiós amor mío que dios te bendiga y cuide tu camino
