Violence In Video Games

There was a loud explosion, followed by shouts of glee
The rat-a-tat-tat of gunshot, was suddenly surrounding me
It was much to my horror that my husband bought the game
And to watch my boys playing it, nearly drove me insane.

They blew things up, they shot at them, and they loved every shot
“But it will warp their minds” I said, my husband said “It will not.”
He promised he would sit with them, but that’s cos he wanted to play
And he said he could drum into them that it is just a game that day.

I peered round the doorway, I watched him guide them through
They cheered, and laughed at gruesome bits, my husband cringed a bit too
But as they grew they learned, but I know this is not true of all
Mine are both big wimps, and even husband on seeing blood will fall.

They cannot stand needles, a paper cut makes them cry
They cannot watch the news, when there is death and destruction awry
So in all honesty I don’t agree with violence in video games at all
But I think it’s up to the parents to make the final call.

Children in days of old, shot each other with a home made stick gun
They made swords out of anything, and always fought to the death in fun.
Play has changed they are safer inside, the trouble now I think this is it
Is when they are left to their own devices and the videos are used just to baby-sit.

Premium Member The Difference Between Judgment and Aid

The council meets, all hours, to hear old batty dames yell, what a *****,
we don't think she's a good person, because she doesn't look and act like us.

The soldier's hall considers, is it fair to wage war on a witch?
She isn't supposed to take up arms, isn't supposed to think about war.

But you, cry in my arms and say, "I wish to be loved, why won't some girl
like me? I'm too fat", you say, and all I can offer is take a walk, eat less.

The mother's brigade is unhappy they have their blessed babes pushed in carriages
and shun the woman unable to have children, just offering to baby sit.

The father's brigade is unhappy to be stuck with the bills or to have a walkout wife
and shun any woman who demands her rights to have opinions and money.

But you, tell me of your lack of money, to eat, to drive, to visit friends
so I send money and delight in the happy tales of movies and dining.

I look across the pattern of life and find the dips and downtrodden and say,
what about artificial families, people who sit with our kids and lunch and help homework?

Cursed be you, you say, you have no children, you offer no aid, and steal
this poem, passing it friend to friend and say, what do you think?

Will it help our children gain confidence to have another adult listen?
Will it help those with no parent to have and adult praise and question?

Is it my age I ask and the answer is yes, this is an age of all too opinionated
people failing to listen to the wind, to the silence, to the dreams, to the crying

taking asking looks at their neighbor saying am I keeping up, has that other
person got ahead? I'll not help them because they aren't needy enough

to offer guidance to those who have no time to look beneath beds, look
beneath the society, beneath the judge's bench and find the better way.

The silent one has taken away the light from your world, taken the song away
from the sorrowing, taken the whip from the brutes, and walked away.

She has a life, she has needs to find out more of the truth of reality
she doesn't like the people she sees always sitting in judgement and never listening

to the wind, the truth, to justice, to the downtrodden, to the lonely, to the unforgiven,
to the beaten, the one that finds her mind her best hidden asset you won't accept.

The Kissing Game Babysitter Kiss

I used to baby-sit a lot, when I was young
I was a well sort after young miss
I get on really well with kids
And they liked the babysitters kiss.

Each small child I put to bed
A story then a quick kiss on the head
I’d settle down to watch TV
And eat the supper they left for me.

Each time they mostly came in late
But always walked me to my gate
Then one night after a fancy dress
The couple came home in a bit of a mess.

Their baby had played up as well
I’d only just settled her and I did tell
Don’t worry we know of the babysitters kiss
It’s all they want from you young miss.

I looked at him in his fancy dress costume
Not sure what flashed out in the gloom
I asked him as we reached our path
He opened his cloak and his thing did flash.

I went as a flasher, I tell you miss
Now it's time to give the babysitter a kiss…
I looked at his thing a flashing light well placed
And told him his battery need to be replaced

He drunkenly tried his hand on this young miss
He wanted to give me, his babysitter, a kiss
I reminded him his daughter would be a young miss
She may be the babysitter a drunk wants to kiss.

Pucker Up

Wanna move up the ladder fast?
I'll tell you what to do;
Run to the boss's office,
And shine those dirty shoes!

Are your fingers stout enough,
To massage his smelly feet?
Clip those crusted toe nails,
Make sure they're nice and neat!

Hang around the time clock,
Snitch on those who's late;
Spend more time in the lunchroom,
Scrubbin' those greasy plates!

Volunteer for overtime,
Never seek a penny more;
Bring up the morning papers,
Deliver 'em to his door!

Walk his ugly dogs,
Drag 'em at least a mile;
Find someone to baby sit,
You'll be gone for a while!

Show up when you're ailing,
No matter how dark or drab;
Take him out for dinner,
Be sure to pick up the tab!

Drive his wife to the mall,
She's bound to get a thrill;
Make sure she's extra happy,
When you ask to pay the bill!

Wash their dirty laundry,
Maintain that sculpted lawn;
Sleep is just a fairy tale;
You're workin' up 'til dawn!

Take his kids to the zoo,
Let 'em drive you up a wall;
If they throw rocks at a camel,
Be sure to take the fall!

Get ready for a let down,
Kissin' up won't take you far;
Bosses ain't really stupid,
But boy, they know YOU are!!

Premium Member Dragons Penguins

Dragon really shouldn’t have borrowed the penguins, away from the Zoo.
Now he was their baby sitter at the lake, from morning till night, so true.
Not to mention a catasaurus was now stalking, his delightful little friends.
The Trolls volunteered their time, to help defend those cute ones, to the end.

He wanted to take them everywhere, wherever he could and had ever been.
Though most of those we’d been kicked out of… Well, here we go again.
First we passed our illustrious church, where the organ and voices rang on.
But as the penguins began to sing, it came out a screech, so I hurried them along.

Next we went to the local Ice cream Stand, where the Trolls devoured icy delights.
Brain freezes naturally ensued, so the penguins sat on their heads, what a sight!
The crowd applauded such an ingenious save, now penguin hats, are all the rage.
The Mayor gave them animal service vests, so in the news, he wouldn’t be upstaged.

This allowed them into the Mall, where lit fountains flow, a fascinating place, indeed!
Dragon became their slide, as the kids marveled at their fancy whoop-de-do deeds.
Next dragon herded them to a western shop, for sunbonnets, cowboy hats, and duds.
The mayor up for re-election, again, came along, and also got completely, gussied up.

Next was a candy store, where Dragon bought them a few, Yep, they’re like all kids.
A sugar rush ensued. Dragon reeled them in, before: who knew what, heaven forbid!
He even had to get them, out of the skylights, not easy for a bird that doesn’t fly…
But by directing them to the ice ring… he let them wear off their lengthy sugar high.

At the Mall Food Court, was sushi, and the children got to feed, the penguins they knew.
Naturally, the further they went, the more crowds ensued, until they bid the mall adieu.
But first they went to the bookstore, as yes, penguins like to read and be read to, too.
They’re now planning a penguin adventure book, ‘All the Things a Penguin Can Do’.

Then leaving the crowds, they went home on Dragon’s back, a lakeside nap, overdue.
Now I ask you very simply, if the penguins were yours to baby sit, so true…
Where, oh where, would you go… with such a precious little cargo, and you?

Lovely Sara

I've heard the moon whispering to the stars
About your beauty about your olive eyes
One lost its way,
One fells in you universe,
But another still fading away,
Here it dies.
They all swore that no one would shine again,
No one would rise!
Since your radiant face shining in size.
They all swore to remain in hiding and be disguised,
Since you're still shining on them,
They’re all amazed.
I've heard the springy waters singing your name
Praising your beauty, praising your fame,
The lyrics were simple repeating the same,
Oh lovely Sara! In look and name
I've seen the nightingale singing in cage,
I've seen the parrot in wild in rage,
Picking minty leaves and sage,
Shouting and shouting without blame.
I've seen the sun setting down in shyness,
For your undeclared title your highness,
You're a princess of joy, smile, and finesse,
You baby-sit the elder, the young and the baby-boy.
Your innocent look your childish nose,
Your ringy mouth, your chicks in rose,
Your strawberry lips your tongue in pose,
They all in place like a pretty toy.
Your tar oiled hair,
Your skin is fair,
My sight is blur,
I've lost it boy!
Your thighs and lips,
Your kiss and tips,
Your bosom and hips,
Are you an attraction or a divine decoy??
Your scruffy hair is a blossomed flower,
Showing its petals higher and lower,
Indicating directions like a tower.

Premium Member A Town Called Rotgut

The road into Rotgut looked like every road,
in every town I've seen, dusty
I've traveled through so many towns
and this town is no different
I'm tired, just looking for the saloon
and a guy, a drifter, name of Zack
Sent me a wire, needs help with a bank job
They call me Ricardo, an outlaw
Been on the run since I can remember
Enough about that, I'm thirsty
The trail dust is still choking me
Well, its not much of a saloon,
but it will do
Bartender!Give me a drink!
Leave the bottle!
Hello miss, thanks but no thanks
Here on business, don't have time
Looking for a guy name is Zack
Do you know him?
At the table, thanks
You Zack? Got your wire
Ricardo? Yes the same
I'll be around, but not for long
In fact Zack, after looking at you I'll be moving on
No offense, you look like someone who runs a dry good store
And I didn't come here to baby sit
So just pay me for showing up and I'll move on
That won't be a problem will it?
Didn't think so
Thanks for the whiskey, told the bartender you'll pay for it
I'm keeping the bottle, you don't mind
Hope not, I'm tired and really don't want to kill you
Good day miss
Yep, like every town I've seen

Benchmark of Trust

Would you trust a crock, To baby sit your child?
Would you trust a cobra, To guard you in the wild?
Would you trust a Lion, Safe keeping sheep at night?
Would you trust a bear, In the dark or the light?
Would you trust a thief, With a ten karat stone?
Or even a predator, With your kids all alone?
Would you leave your house, And not lock the door?
Would a crack user, Never smoke anymore?
Would you trust a liar, Never to deceive?
And for a politician, For no one can believe.
Would you trust the Devil, To tell you what is good?
When it’s clearly stated, The author of falsehood,
So how do ya trust Obama, Anytime day or night?
Cause a snake is just a snake, In any dark or the light.
And what about Muslims, Where is their alliance?
Do they worship God? Never! They are in defiance.
Their goal is abolish, Christianity forever,
With Obama as president. Their ploy is very clever.
So what is the solution, The other party to elect?
From frying pan to the fire, An attempt to correct.
It’s not about the party, For most will all agree,
It’s being represented, By the powers that there be.
It’s not a brand new concept, To have your voice heard,
That’s why we fought the British, To have a spoken word.
You deserve or entitled, A socialist ideal.
Obama got elected, On that deceiving spiel.
I could go on and on, But I think I’ve said enough,
Cleaning up the government, Is gonna be very rough.

The Love of Our Two Cats

Sammie and Pepper are like our children to us
Their bright eyes are so expressive with much love and trust
So many years ago I just never did know
About the deep love of a cat and my impressions were low
But I was just a young man during those growing years
Gettiing over some rough spots and so many fears
As life has continued to mould me and I became a cat daddy
At my more mature age I even baby sit our daughters cats, Cody and Maddy
So, every now and then their are four cats in the house
We are honored to have them all, me and my spouse
We are now very much cat lovers and so very proud and happy
We are greeted whenever we come in the door, loving mommy and pappy
They both rub against our legs and look up with inquiring bright eyes
Where you both been? Did you bring us a surprise?
And we always do bring them something to enjoy
A goodie to eat and perhaps a little mouse toy
Just wanted to tell the world how wonderful it is to be in love
With these furry Gods creatures so delightfully created in heaven above

Life Is a Rubrics Cube

This is my life
My life is a Rubrics Cube
With so many chances
I don't know what to do
           -And-
That can be almost anything
      ------
I rather take a shot
   At Romance
Maybe then I may get
       And second chance
         -But-
It alway's takes a
       Silly twist
And that is the kind
          Of twist
That some-times' you
Just can't really miss
      ------
And as it turn's out
Going in any direction
What dose that mean to me
It's all about love and affection
      ------
Every time I make a turn
Rather it be good or bad
There is always something
Their is something in the air
That desperately need's
       Re-direction
     Or else
It will go in another direction
And I will certainly be had
This situation really look's bad
      ------
Always something left to add
In order to get the full picture
Don't let it get you mad
Because that Rubrics Cube
Will only serve to baby sit you

Sweet Shadow Trails

Celebrations! My younger sibling has arrived and I have the much desired company!
Jealousies! The sibling has taken my mom away and I am alone most of the time!
War! Being an elder my heart is larger than everyone's and I have to learn to share!
Care! Mother is tired or busy, and elder sis is mature enough to baby sit!
Tantrums! The younger sibling is howling demanding and I have to give in!
Smile! The baby has kissed and hugged me!

A smile curves on my lips
As my baby sis pulls my braids
No more a silent raider are her sweet shadow trails
She plays and dances on warbling toes
Gurgling with joy and my finger in her hands
Holding hands we sing song ring-a-ring-a-roses
Up in the air she flies as I catch her with hugs and chiding's
Loud screams at spooned oats to deafen my ears
Her feet slip in my heels, her tiny waist holds my big skirts
My bags she drags, long waits for my holidays
Narrating stories of my crazy campus days
The cherub listens in awe and gaping eyes
Beds assembled with gifts after the child falls
In deep slumber on her birthday eve's
My baby grows to joyful independent splendours
Her wilful spirit chooses her own caramelised grains
Her curly top flutters when she flips her wings
Along with birds of her own moulded feathers
Migrating into her own wonderful warm territories
Gathering twigs to strengthen her nestlings
My life remains filled with her lovely memories
Of war cries and tantrums, celebrations and smiles

Black Battles

BACK BATTLES

Back battle begets bleeds,
Bringing back betrayed blood,
Build-up blind believes bestowed
Below background bruises behind.
Birds breakfeed bite bravely
Between body breaking burst.
Be-dragged bed baby-sit by
Beautiful beat-up barbaric beings,
Banish bangle breaks banquette
because beauty bans bandit,
Bandage. Bad-mouthed business before
Blabbing beasts bust-in bravety.
Barrister back breaking business baffles benjamin,
Back-off bring baggaged banter.
