In a world ruled by gods and men,
who holds in their hand nature's pen?

When words are smitten to deaf ears,
dost one conclude their deepest fears?

Thy skilled soothsayer is portrayed,
as nothing more than a beggar paid.

A wandering derelict of the past,
his bardic tongue now shall avast.

On a park bench, he sleeps at night,
oft Poe's "The Raven" he does recite.

'Tis thy chilly nights he dreads the most,
so in his prose, he gets engrossed.

The birds doth come and hearken in,
as he weaves his tales and rhymes within.

This man was once like you and me,
so sad this world could never see.

Premium Member The Tranquil Sea

When dormant skies command the winds to blow
amidst the tides where sailing vessels dwell,
the tranquil sea will soon become a foe.

Within the bluster, flailing in its throe,
the wanton keels reel wildly in the swell
when dormant skies command the winds to blow.

With sails avast, all front the undertow,
and when those silent surging ebbs rebel,
the tranquil sea will soon become a foe.

All reap its wrath when brutal waves bestow
their cresting crowns the pressing winds impel,
when dormant skies command the winds to blow.

And when those timbers shiver to-and-fro
while creaks and quivers groan within the well,
the tranquil sea will soon become a foe.

All heed the signs that let a sailor know
when heaven shares the omens that will tell
when dormant skies command the winds to blow,
the tranquil sea will soon become a foe.

A Beauty Held Inside Eyes

Avast a beauty held inside.
In fragile hands and soft lingering eyes.
a supple smile burning as if a star
for one who gazes through lenses.
A galaxy of colors swirling and throbbing
with electrical pulses beating blood
through a maze of veins.
Travel through hedges of high and low
and run in circles before you know
you are lost, lost within a heart.
Secretive and full.
Hopeful and despair filled.
A contradiction of rigid gentleness.
A beauty lost within closed eyes.

Blueberry Boat

BLUEBERRY BOAT

I’m going to sea in a blueberry boat
With cellophane sails on cinnamon mast
It could be cold so I’ll take a coat
And In case of a leak some Elastoplast

We shall sail on seas of blueberry blue
with never a clash and no mismatch
You will hardly see us unless you view
With spectacles infrared attach

When cauliflower clouds are in the sky
They shall give us a satiating entree
Then of course the dessert will be blueberry pie
With a creamy cumulus topping soufle

I’ll send you a postcard wherever we land
On finest rice paper so you can then eat
my words, I can recommend them and
You will have a conscience that’s clear and sweet

A life on the sea may not be all calm
The weather can lead you a merry dance
But in case of storms I will have no qualm
With a spare pair of blueberry underpants

So to all you jack tars I say ahoy!
With a yo ho ho and avast below!
When you’re near come across on a breeches buoy
Share blueberry rum on our little bateau

Premium Member High and Mighty But Like the Chloroplast

The light!
it outshines, dominates and cannot be captured,
is the definition of its glory and pride.

But a substance,
as little and unseen as it is,
captures the light, processes and even converts,
so is my victory and testament.
The Chloroplast!

Aiming at a shot, but had a blast
despite the hibernation
my doings shout and boast
as influence and praise stretch my coast.

From east to west
spreading so fast
like the yeast on an old baked dough.

My methods cast upon the waters
as they stay afloat and pass the test,
this marvels my competitors
and keeps them alarmed.

The past,
having its proclamation of me,
"less than a commoner
and worse than an outcast".
The present protests
while the future screams "AVAST!"

my new empire,
filled with pasteurized milk
produced from healthy breasts
and sweet scenting red meat
well spiced, salted and roasted
sums up the efficiency of my hands
which have defeated lack
until Ice heavys water.

At last!
In the Island of abundant grapes
having supplies of fresh and viscous Honey
with vast avenue for pleasures.
I stand the greatest.
And as mighty and untouchable as I seem.
I still dwell like the chloroplast.

Night Terror

I wake, my eyes rapidly wandering;
Avidly searching for the source of the tapping.
Held captive by the sight demon with it's repulsive hellish guise.
Lingering; Hidden amongst shadows it stares while I let loose my cries.

Raising my shield of comfort, blocking my eyes hoping it'd flee.
Yet still it lingers; feeding my fears; arousing my terror in me.
My creativity betrays me; misconstruing reality for fiction.
Bringing forth a multitude of tormentors of my terrified imagination.

Monstrous shadows and sharp fanged demons are my walls new décor.
They beckon; imploring to be an audience to my shrieks once more.
Shivers travel down my spine, I whisper, “Who goes there?”
The shadows take form; a beast with crimson eyes and the size of a bear.

Turning, raising it's claws; claws tinted with the souls of victims past,
It grins, bearing his jagged teeth, advancing; helplessly I yell, “AVAST!”
“Demon of the night avast! Depart! Withdraw yourself from my quarters!”
Yet still it creeps, pacing closer to the foot of my bunk; disheartened I cower.

Retreating under the warm embrace of my shield, terror torments my mind.
A silhouette rises, looming over my carcass; a vulture awaiting to dine.
Tightly shutting my eyes, begging the reaper my soul quickly take.
It's claws begin tear through the hull of my shield; I wake...

The Sea Rover

14 July 2010

The Sea Rover

Moving sideways or careening
All hands hoay and avast ye
Sea dogs and landlubbers go on pillaging
Jolly Roger is flapping guarded by cannon and artillery

Pistol, daggers, and doubloon among things inside the sea-chest
Walk the plank if they caught you as offenders
Or heave to an island and marooning them as helpless
Yo ho ho! and a bottle of rum as a way of pirate’s laughter

As the ship rolled about on high seas
Plenty of cackle fruit to serve a salmagundi
A drink of grog or bumboo wobbled their sea legs
In tossing ship, proves them as scallywags

Blow me down! alerted by a cannon blast
The enemies have climbed on their Jacob's ladder
Black spot meet their way on to Tortuga’s vast
All hearty and brave soldiers have fallen to Davy Jone’s locker

(All right you scallywags of questionable seaworthiness, we begin with an up-tempo step-liveliness.)

Send him aloft, high into the crow's nest,
He'll keep watch with his keen young sight.
Let me out, the wind is a-freshenin',
Roll me up in the middle of the night.

Over to the hatch and have a check within the hold, lad,
So we know that down below, the ship is nice and tight.
Roll into the galley, and fetch the cook potatoes,
But throw 'em in the water if they've got the bleedin' blight.

Roll me out into the wet heart o' the glossy sea,
Hand me down a whoppin' tankard o' rum,
Tomorrow, on the hunt we'll be,
The Captain knows where that foreign vessel's from.

Roll me into our sheltered island hideaway,
We can sleep a while before dawn's early fight.
Give us one drink but we're gonna cut it off right there,
Gotta wake up in the mornin,' gotta wake up feelin' right.

Roll me out, now we're after a prize, boys,
Watch out for the shallows in the middle of the bight,
Roll me away, don't let them hit us broadside,
They'll soon surrender to our mighty pirate fright.

(Okay, me hearties, slow it down a shark's whisker...)

Now we're all as happy as the humpback whale,
We'll treat the prisoners fairly, or it's impolite,
The sun slips below the rail, the briny dark will then prevail,
The crew's asleep, full fathoms deep, of moonlight take a bite.

Roll me easy, there's peace upon the ocean,
The softest wind, and stars a-burnin' bright,
Drift through the water with that slow rockin' motion,
When we make it back to shore, our tales they will write.

(Avast ye now, slow it on down until yer barely makin' a wake...)

Roll me quiet when I think about my lost girl,
Nothin's bigger then than me a-wonderin' why,
Roll me back because I can't forget the dead boy,
And turn your head away, before I start to cry.

Said the scuba diver to the grouper, "My, you're quite a dish!
How about you and me 'hooking' up is my most fervent wish!"

"You have the cutest freckles on your face and, oh, those lips!
Won't you nibble on my ears and give me some tingly nips?"

Said the grouper to the scuba diver, "Avast, ye land lubber!
I've heard that line before and I don't want to hear your blubber!"

"Don't give me that old fish eye! I'm not taken in by your guile!
And besides, matey, I'm a jewfish and 'tis obvious you're a gentile!"

MUTINY ON THE SPANISH MAIN
Avast ye scum, ye've backed me to the wall
and evil's all I see there in yer eyes;
but I won't hesitate to meet the call
to fight if I must fight, so realize

that what yer comin to is yer own choice
to spend the rest of life, because of me,
just swingin in the wind, if I've a voice
the king will listen to, tho dead I be.

Altho a tyrant, he still makes yer way
and feeds the whores you want so much to see
so let's remember where we are today
so's we can get to where we want to be.

Lay down yer arms, ye've got a Judas here,
and he's the greatest thing ye've got to fear.

A Devon Lass

A Devon lass was Mary Read,
Raised as a lad the pirate queen,
All for her mother’s wish to succeed,
To the world a boy was she seen,
Elizabethan trews were her screen,
So male in dress, in thought and deed.
A Devon lass was Mary Read,
Raised as a lad the pirate queen,
Avast, she swapped the widow’s weed,
The pirate’s code became her scene,
The woman’s world that might have been,
A place she felt she didn’t need.
A Devon lass was Mary Read,
Raised as a lad the pirate queen.

A Belated Cc Das Kapital Wicked Candle Box Event For Karl Marx

Born May 5, 1818, in Trier Germany
     to Heinrich and Henrietta Marx,
sans the third of nine children
     (and second oldest heir)

Karl Marx thinking begot incendiary sparks,
asper his two most controversial publications
     titled The Communist Manifesto,
     and Das Kapital

which political philosophy
incubating seeds of self destruction didst birth
doctrines of class struggle,
     historical materialism, dearth

of equitable wealth, and inherent
     contradictions of industrial capital
     distributed unevenly
     across avast swath of Earth

thus inviting his perspective
     (conveniently exploited,
     mined, and usurped) advocating
     the working class (proletariat)

     to expedite organized revolutionary action
to topple capitalism and bring about
     socio-economic emancipation,
where wages of sin exchanged for labor bled

fingers to the bone life source, viz proletariat
till slaving laborer nearly became gratefully dead
despite being cased in 12 point
Times New Roman garb, who incessantly fed

insatiably maws of production,
(no way to get a supportive talking head)
particularly highlighted
     within schema of Capitalism),

     a predominant paradigm
     stratifying society led
to internal tensions engendered
     between bourgeoisie red

dilly controlling means
     of production codified as said
as die a critical approach Marx coined
     as historical materialism,

where figurative landmines forced one to tread
gingerly, thus above stated philosophy
would supposedly lead down the road
     where self destruction wrought marriage
birthing Socialism offspring from shot gun wed

     ding, thus coaxing eventual establishment
of classless communist society meant
to establish free association of producers who spent
exchanging merchandise amidst classless
campy population hood pitched a tent.

AVAST YE LOVERS

Plummeting into chilled water
eyes closed to hold the image
arms and legs flailing at beauty
breathlessly submerged

dancing weightlessly
numbed by her liquefied vision
adrift in the gaze of her eyes
swimming in passion’s pure folly

sinking through the blue of her eyes
submerged in the depth of her smile
smitten – at point of hot saber
walking the plank of cold love
