Premium Member An Existentialist Asks---What Is Life

What is life?

Euphonies, cacophonies and chromosomal anomalies
intertangled destinies and illusive methodologies

Occurring in obscure dimensionless time
Millenniums fertilized to create the sublime

Perceived by ideations so pure it would seem
To exist beyond mind and to all in between.

Lingering as lore to an all distant past
There is no redo, there is no redraft.

The questions, the answers so rightly proclaimed
are composed and transported by thoughts still unnamed.

In limited struggle, the moments unspent
Become the result of a living lament.

In what and wherefore and why and with whom
we unwrap our existence in this paradoxical womb

Can we find meaning, a clear sign that we see
inclusive to all, this existential decree.

From naught made of all and conceived in a star,
we landed on earth, neither near nor afar

For reasons unknown and telegnosis unclear,
These salient projections are all jockeyed by fear

We stand in the way of unknowing surmise
And find the world is still much a surprise.

A quest overwhelming in distressed sanity
For answers not known play havoc to vanity.

To end these remarks with a questionable phrase
all becomes known in 'one of these days.'

SYNOPSIS
From the moment of birth to when we die, life presents us with dilemmas and questions that amuse, titillate and confuse us. As we get older, we realize that what we thought we knew was all pure conjecture. This poem is meant to reflect the myriad of disjointed thoughts that have run through my mind throughout the years. The "why me?" and "what is my purpose in life?" questions usually are met with ambiguity and incoherence.
Many of us are beleaguered with these conceits and although some find solace in religion, for people like me it becomes an existential never ending struggle.

She Asks, I Answer

You ask…………….
If love is forever and if I will love you forever
Why I love you and how much I love you
Why I chose you and when I fell in love with you
You ask me does love last an eternity
I answer………………..
I can neither tell you how much or why I love you
I can’t promise forever or an eternity
All the time we have is between hello and goodbye
I can only promise the time we have together will be our eternity, our forever.
I cannot tell you when I fell in love with you for there is no single moment
I still get butterflies every time I hear your voice, see you smile and feel your touch
One day you will look back smile, laugh and cry at the moments we shared
And only then will you truly understand how much and why I loved you
Only then will you truly know that our love was forever and was for an eternity

The Skeptic Asks For Proof

The skeptic says, prove it and I'll believe,
prove God is real and I'll believe--but,
I answer, how can I prove the reality
of a Being that is beyond the lines of
space and time, life and death: eternal....

How can I even grasp the idea of God,
when I can think one thought at a time,
speak with one voice at a time, hope
and love with but a single heart--how
can I see God with the eyes of men?

How can I prove my love for God,
His love for me, even for the skeptic?

What Jesus Asks of Us

What Jesus Asks Of Us…

“Love your God with your
heart, soul and mind.”
This is the first great
 commandment you’ll find.

“Love your neighbor as yourself,”
 is number two...
These commands are what
Jesus asks of me and you.

The law, the prophets hang
 on these commands.
God loves you! He doesn’t
 Make “impossible” demands.

His death on the cross and
the life he gave…
He wants our love for him
 in how we behave.

He created us to have a
  relationship with him.
That we may know what
It means to be “born again.”

Reading his word will give us
 wisdom in what’s asked…
This will give us a desire to
obey him that will last.

Let’s wholeheartedly serve him now!
Our lives… He’ll restore!
Living for Jesus… Who could ask
 for anything more?

My Heart Asks You

A day is a nice day when you touched my heart and smile.
A day is a sad day when you walked distance me a mile.
I work double when you inspired me I got strength,
I finish my day so quicker that was the hardest length,
I float to touch the moon when you read the chapter of my file.
When you disappeared I seen you through my vision of darkness,
I touched my lips and find nearest you where delivered me a kiss,
I lost me for a while and gone through my dreams to life compile.
I walked in my sleep in loneliness you guide me as a fairy queen,
When I touched my body I felt you that has changed my living style.
Few of them thinks no soul is in our body who nested my thought,
Who seeds ideas to fragrant dreams in the mind of my heart pot.
Something is wrong, I start to care me; you changed my attitude,
I saw my face in the mirror, my heart asks you, am i nice not rude?

A Reader Asks

A Reader Asks

Of the books that you’ve read
Which ones were the best?
Which ones caught your fancy?
Which ones passed your test?
Which ones made you laugh?
Which ones made you cry?
Which ones would you toss?
Which ones would you buy?
How about Little Women
With Joe, Meg and the others,
Or Lord of the Flies
With the twins and the brothers.
How was Gone with the Wind
And Scarlet O’Hara,
Or the Life and the Times
Of the great Yogi Berra.
Remember the girls
In Fried Green Tomatoes,
Or the wizard and Dorothy
And the violent tornadoes.
Great Expectations;
Great Gatsby, Tom Sawyer;
To Kill a Mockingbird;
There’s a great lawyer
Twenty Thousand Leagues
Under the Sea;
The Call of the Wild;
Those were something to me.
The Three Musketeers,
The Count Monte Cristo,
The cold Heart of Darkness,
How long does your list go?
Uncle Tom’s Cabin,
How about Sherlock Holmes,
Oliver Twist,
Or Edgar Allan Poe’s poems.
A Tale of Two Cities;
The great Jungle Book;
The Call of the Wild;
Deserve more than a look.
Last of the Mohicans,
Perhaps Moby Dick,
Then there’s Treasure Island,
Go on, take your pick.
Gulliver’s Travels,
The quaint Scarlet Letter,
A Christmas Carol,
Could you find many better?
The Red Badge of Courage,
Now that was a downer.
Have you read The Prince
Or about the dog “Sounder”?
Those some call classics
But there are so many more;
I love science fiction
Though to some they’re a bore.
CIA thrillers,
A mystery or two;
And sometimes in a pinch
Any old book will do.
I could go on
On the books that I’ve read,
But I’d like to stop here
And hear your list instead.

Premium Member Are You Here To Stay Or Will You Go Away Asks the Father

Are You Here to Stay Or, Will You Go Away, Asked, the Father

We speak such swelling words with our tongue
words that would be better not to have been said,
promises that we’ve uttered foolishly before the Lord
and sworn, Father, we will do this before we to are dead.

That is bad enough but, we lift our hands and pretend as though the song coming
forth is from our heart, but only with our mouth do we speak,
while our mind is whirling with the affairs of the day
thoughts not on Heaven but on the earth below.

His Word declares He who worships the Father
must worship Him in Spirit and in truth,
so then we command our spirit to be under His control
if you believe He does all the work, you have only yourself to delude.

We are used to taking short cuts in a lift style
where instant seems to be the norm,
but a relationship with Father God takes much time in order
for our wills He has to fashion and conform.

Oh, yes, I have been as guilty as the rest, not taking in my
busy lifestyle everyday to seek His wonderful face,
But, I have pleaded with Him to wash me from my sin
and pardon me with His priceless grace.

Many people have accepted this God of ours
and for reasons unknown have then turned and walked away,
retreating to a world of cheap glitter and despicable sin
no, I don’t believe they had given Him ownership and absolute sway.

Now, our Father’s heart is grieving and is broken
for the children He can no longer see,
Assembled before Him in purity and holiness
Covered with the Righteousness of Jesus that had won the victory.

The Maid Asks For a Raise

The Maid Asks for a Raise

By Elton Camp

Mrs. Richey hired a young, French maid
Highly recommended as good at her trade

After some weeks, Fifi had something to say
“Madam, I must insist on a big raise in pay.”

“I’m sorry, but that is something I won’t do
I can manage my house fine without you.”

“Well, Madam, I will tell you what is true
I am far better at housecleaning than you.”

“Mr. Richey has mentioned the fact to me
And he says I am a better cook, you see.”

“Besides all that, I am much better in bed.”
At that, Mrs. Richey’s face turned very red

“I guess that my husband told you that also.”
To which Fifi responded, “Oh, no, oh no.”

“From one who knows, I have his sworn word
For it is from the young pool boy that I heard.”

Mrs. Richey turned pale and her knees did shake
“All right, Fifi, how much raise will you take?”

Premium Member No one ever asks for what everything is, a cosmic cycle of shadows and lost light

No one ever asks for what everything is, a cosmic cycle of shadows and lost light,
You will be buried in the clothes of unfulfilled dreams, mantles of light and throbbing illusions,
Or, like all of us, modest souls who cannot pay for grand transitions, we will spin
On the eternal winds, freed from our earthly forms, an ethereal thought in the dance of the stars,
The crematorium opens like a star gate, a dragon of fire and change,
Refining us, our skin melts into the sacred steam of purification, we burn like stars
In a starry night, transforming into the magic dust of eternity, ash
Scattered in the mysterious landscapes of forgetfulness, as if sprinkling an ashtray
In a millennial breeze with a forgotten name.
Every dream, a spark in the infinite universe, silver butterflies
Losing their wings in the dance of eternity. We hide in the rainbow of days gone by,
Too poor for marble altars, silence is our silent witness,
An ethereal echo in the vastness of the universe, we get lost among the enchanted leaves of trees,
Our ashes nourish the earth, returning to the cosmic beginnings,
In the blessed arms of mother Gaia, nameless, formless,
A luminous dust rising in a beam of light, dancing in the cosmic silence.
No one remembers us anymore, enchanted stories lost in the untouched magic books,
Buried in white pages and incantation verses, ethereal spirits
Wandering the infinite corridors of the universe. Better to burn in the strong winds of desire,
Than to wither under the weight of earthly years, prisoners of stellar oblivion.
The fires dance in the eternal night, a mysterious and extraordinary spectacle,
Burning our desires, purifying our dreams, leaving behind the dust of dreams,
A luminous trace that is lost in the galactic depths of time.
Memories, our falling comets, scattered in the cold wind of infinity,
Embracing the earth like a wave of magic and nostalgia,
Better to be ethereal voices echoing in the cosmic silence,
To be ghosts singing their own rebirth,
In a universe that does not ask, does not seek, only eternally transforms.
Our ashes, enchanted dust, scattered in the forests
Of eternal forgetfulness, where trees embrace the sky and rivers always flow towards the stellar seas,
Without regrets, without complaints, just a magical equation revealed by eternity.

If Jesus Asks

IF JESUS ASKS

Dew on the grass
Wants to disappear
As a day wakes up
Frightened by the red eyes of sun.

Again all those men
Will remain tireless
For some more hours.
Sharp arrows from their mind
Defeated-
Distance on the earth,
Boundary of the of universe,
Pride of stars being alone,
Even the game fate plays.
But today’s day is tired.

That green tree
Standing naked in a landscape
Used to
Sunbath during winter,
Play with wind on stormy days,
A born again make up
As spring bade good bye,
Or get drenched in rain
Like a farmer’s son.
Old days have enjoyed them all.
That green tree
No more there,
City’s claw has removed,
Roots of its existence.

Is it only that lonely tree
Has been killed by city life!
Did not you see the tears of ocean!
Her tides,
Like a beloved lady
Wanted to wipe out
All weariness of humankind.
And in exchange
Modern life poisoned her heart
With all its senselessness.

When the day,
Wants to hide her face,
From shame.
Men are still preying,
What else is remaining?
What else is faraway?

When daylight disappears,
They declare
Now penguin’s blood is our subject matter.
Or if this world becomes a bomb in fire
Then we shall hire
Our extraterritorial neighbor
To settle us in space shuttle,
Above the earth atmosphere.
So, the day unwilling to wake up any more.
Only the red eye of sun wakes her up.

Remember how morning birds
Use to sing melodies,
To wake her up.
All that resonance is missing,
As dew fell from leaves to leaves.
Glorious smile of shining water drops
On a lotus leaf
Cry alone now.
Misses how pleasant was twilight’s tune.
In today’s day
Who is there has time for them all.

But every year
There are seminars
To declare
Those entire glorious chapters
Sun, moon, even heaven is not too far.
And many more
All are in the memory of a computer.
But today’s day
Redeye of sun wakes her up.

She doubts,
Are men no more sacred now!
Yes;
May be like polluted water,
As sacred from holy Ganga river.

So one day,
Jesus asks to the heart of mankind,
You have achieved so much,
Your glorious days are here,
Then why you still keep me crucified!
For how many centuries
Shall I remain!

Human child knows age-old answer
‘Its your greatness
To remain there,
So we worship!’

Only red eyes of sun
Wakes another day up.
A day -
No dew falling on her lap.

Premium Member Who Asks Me

Thank you God for a solution
I don't know what it is
But I know you gave it to me
Guess I will find out
The bottom line is I got it
And I got peace
How did I get it?
I would never know
I just know that it has nothing to do with me
What I do or what I did
It has everything to do with what You want to do
So nothing I said and do would ever change Your mind
But why is that?
Why did You let me go on thinking I can change Your mind
That I can change the situation?
It's useless anyway
Until You move
Ahh God You are something else
You just do what You want
And no one can change that
But can I?

A Non-Voter Asks

Educated derelicts,
Professor of fools,
Scholars of crap,
Leaders that moo;

What is then intellect,
If honor is your weight in gold?
Such mineral torch can test,
Molten like poo.

Love nothing more asks for

A love-filled inning love asks for,
Not just wedding ring love asks for.

Let eyes dive deep further to probe,
No more than feeling love asks for.

We all desire joys of our own,
Who suffering in love asks for?

Just a moment-long communion,
What else a loving heart asks for?

Love desires but a glimpse of love,
What else? Heart not a thing asks for.

Rose Asks Forgiveness

Pulling energy
  Fervor from Heaven above
    Impaired by her thorns
     Faint memories of her past-
       Forgiveness is all Rose asks.

Villanelle: Whose condition is the worst everyone asks

Whose condition is the worst everyone asks
“Mine!” “Mine!” “Mine!” - everyone’s desperate cry
Why the powers that decide wear such sharp tusks

Look at the basking billions enjoyng tasks
Then watch the hare-lipped cock-eyed shrivelled wretch sigh
Whose condition is the worst everyone asks

Gypsy dejection makes outcaste maniacs
Black film difference opportunities buy
Why the powers that decide wear such sharp tusks

Must everyone’s fate be owed to dead crime larks
Birth time and place do not the living defy
Whose condition is the worst everyone asks

Who asked to be born let him rip open masks
Post-Big Bang soup stray elements unify
Why the powers that decide wear such sharp tusks

High and low meek and strong beg for the same marks
Nothing’s neither here nor there after we die
Whose condition is the worst everyone asks
Why the powers that decide wear such sharp tusks
