A LIMERICK ON NOTED SOUP POETS

Bob Hinshaw, Tom Cunningham, James Edward Lee, Sr., Russell Sivey, Gordon McConnell, Greg Barden, Emile Pinet, Silent One, WingedWarrior, Charles Messina, Gershon Wolf, Richard Lamoureux, Joe Flack, Liam McDaid, Rick Parise, Curtis Johnson, Curtis Futch, Jr., Brian Strand, Don Johnson, Jack Ellison, Roblert Lindley, Timothy McGuire, John Gondolf, Arturo Michael, Edward Ibeh, Kevin Shaw, Harry Horsman, Dr. Ram Mehta

They come from all walks of life
Some from countries filled with strife
They wish to convey
Their life in a way
That cuts to the core like a knife

They write words of wisdom, words that inspire
Words of great mirth, and some words of hell fire
Some poems tell a story
On getting to glory
They truly are poets that we can admire

When you read the words they have written
I feel certain that you will be smitten
You may laugh, or you may cry
You may just chuckle, or only sigh
But what they have written is always fittin'

If your name is not here, please forgive me
The list is inexhaustible, you see
It would take many days
To give everyone praise
And on that, I think you'll agree

Premium Member Thank You All and a Very Merry Christmas

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to all you amazing poets who took the time to comment
on my last post ‘Sunny Horizons’
I would have loved to thank each and every one of you individually, but as I said before –
‘Time waits for no Man ‘and has a way of running away from me…literally.

To my constant support from the time I joined and still… Demetrios and Silent One - I have learned so much from you
two amazing poets, spiritually and poetically. Thank you for all the help over my poetic journey.
To my dear friend Victor Buhagiar, keep writing, never ever stop. Who can forget your stories, especially your poems
with the twist - I adored them.
Paul Callus, you also have helped me so much along the way, especially with your attention to detail and your
encouragement - thank you my dear friend.
To my Love and Light brother Winged Warrior, you are truly amazing.
I don’t think anyone can write internal rhyme like you do. Keep spreading your light.
To my amazing poetic sisters Cecilia Crasto, Susan Ashley, Connie Wong, Carole Duet and Besma - You ladies made my
day with your comments, they are worth framing, believe me.
Robert Linley, Vijay, Tom, Arturo, Faraz, Craig Cornish, and July Morning, Martin Williams and Charlie Messina...
I will always treasure your comments.
Judy Stickles and Akkina, a big thank you to you two lovely ladies.
Thanks for being in my life
Sunshine Smile, Darren White, Teppo, Chris Green and Word Hobo, the very first poets who welcomed me
into the Soup and made me feel so welcome…Thank you.
To Heidi Sands, Brandy, Eve, Sunlite, Warren Doll, John Gondolf, Joseph May, Mike Gentle, Michael Wise, Raw Thinker
and to the poets who have come and gone and had supported me…
Thank you all too.
You are all truly amazing poets, forever let your golden ink flow.

Lastly let me leave you with these parting words …
Keep your passion for poetry always for as W.H.Auden once said
A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language. ? W.H. Auden

Living In a Pandemic

When the sound of silence, wails
And sobs of crying deafens our fearful minds

Our streets are cold and empty
And there’s no one to be found
Only the shuffling of City workers
As they clean a ghostly town

Storms are silently raging
Uncertainties abound
My soul is contemplating
Disaster is all around

Eyes steering out at the invisible
Imagining faces they once knew
Smiles gaged to breathless
As death takes our point of view

A virus not only taking bodies
But our laughter and our joy
In dire need of a savior
We pull a vaccine from the clouds

Ending are here…

Everything is changing fast
Life is not the same
In this New World Order
Vaccination is not a game
If you don’t conform
In darkness, you’ll remain

Someone turned off the sun
And left us in the rain

Storms are silently raging
Uncertainties abound
My soul is contemplating…
The misery life’s become

Everything is changing
Nothing is the same
May the forces protect you
In this viral age

Up In Smoke - a Cigar Story

PROFESSOR SILA, VICTOR SINCLAIR, AND ROCKY PATEL
were scheduled to visit ARTURO FUENTE at the DREW ESTATE in ASHTON.
However, the count of MONTE CRISTO stopped their trip at SAN MIGUEL
because of the possibilty of BROCATUS intercepting them and searching
them for PIRATE'S GOLD near the GRAYCLIFF off the ISLA DEL SOL.
He had the ROBUSTO to use a TORPEDO on their ship,
the PRESIDENTE CHURCHILL.

Their friend ALEC BRADLEY had heard of the plan while
speaking with DON PEPIN GARCIA as they were both seeking
VEGAS GOLD by playing BACCARAT. "AVE MARIA",
he cried..."what can we do but try to warn them."

However, they were already at sea, and the only way to reach
them was PERDOMO which was transmitted by DAVIDOFF
in a ROBUSTO BELICOSO manner. It took nearly 60 RINGS,
but he finally reached ROMEO Y JULIETA who then passed
their message via OLIVA on the PUROS INDIOS which
was sailing near CORONA.

He had been a member of the GURKHA brigade in WWII,
and given the CU-AVIAN, summoned his comrades
PADILLA, MACANUDO, and MADURO to help him stop
this attempt in the NUB. Using a DIESEL TORO, they
successfully sent a signal over the LA PERLA HABANA Mountains,
where DON RAFAEL stopped the DOMINICAN MADURO MELEE.

or related to the industry.

Premium Member In Love With a Mexican Alebrijes

I have fallen in love with a winged dragon alebrijes,
Have to buy it of course, is it signed?
What artisian created this piece of bright gorgeousness?
I look for a signature.
This phantasmagorical creature has none.
No matter.
She is from Oaxaca, the ultimate home of the alebrijes.

Pedro Linares had a fever in the 1940’s.
His fever dreams turned into fantastical creatures.
Made first of papier-mache, painted in Zapotec patterns
Circles, dots and stripes.
Did he know he was starting something big
when he made up the word alebrijes?

Colorful folk art made more famous by
artisians like Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Arturo Cabellero
Alebrijes are hybrid creatures carved in wood, painted in
bright colors.
Representing animal totems or familiars,
they are part of the pop culture of Day-of-the-dead parades.
Horns representing earth, wings representing air,
fins representing water and dragons representing fire.
It makes sense I am completely drawn to the winged dragon.

I believed I saw you
at the top
of Carteret Street
Beloved*
But it wasn't you
Just the inspiration of you

I thought I saw you
at the end
of Ocean Avenue
Chinaski*
But it wasn't you
Just a whiff of you

I walked to Liberty Park
And I saw you
In a ray of sunlight
Bandini*
But it wasn't you
Just a shadow of you

I thought I saw you
On the boat
With your laughing eyes
Manolin*
But it wasn't you
Just the sea
that remembered you

And there at last
I saw you
My Little Prince*
on your cloud-tree
This time it's safe
I see you

Visions of a Quick and Painful Death (The Last Thoughts of My Uncle Arturo)

There’s something wrong with me,
Choking up my soul,
as I try to be.

It’s getting dark here,
I don’t know where to go.

Vision blurry and
my breathing has become slow.

The final curtain is at its last stand.
I'm Being brought down,
and I don't seem to understand.

I see a flash, full circle was exposed.
I know for sure...
this is the farthest I will go.

At this point nothing is left to regret,
I feel the tension
and the pressure now I'm upset

Premium Member What If

What would it be like, through the eyes of a child
What if, staring into the abyss...
on a passing cloud floats a dream

~god's infinite paint brush~

A shadow emerges
A symphony of angels sing, music of the night

It was the night before Christmas
On display, snowflakes falling everywhere...
Dancing in the moonlight

~Countless minutes-blown away~

In a perfect world, if only for a minute...
I dreamed a dream
The dreamer

The Phoenix

She nested upon
her self-made pyre
preparing for
another genesis
in blaze hues of love
and together they were
a combustible fire

She, the creature
exquisitely
forged by fire
eternally
existing within
love's dimensions
designed
to mesmerize
us, by swirling amber
scarlet, and purple
plumage
with flecks of cobalt colors
delicately dissolving
amid the firelight
shadows, a macabre dance
her last love song

Seemingly born
to say goodbye
and sweet is her demise
this touch of heaven
healing the wounded
weeping
eternal teardrops
of Truth and beauty
into hearts, selflessly
with nothing to gain
consuming pain
all things made new

And so it begins
again and again
as it ends...
one of life's treasures
never-ending hope, her
sacrifice of love

Arturo's Princess

As a burgundy mane of curls envelops her fair complexion,
Arturo whisks her up in his arms seductively...playfully
He is not just a beast but a sensitive lover to her
complex and intimate needs..she longs to feel him
embrace her body, soul and mind
and ride the waves of exotic and deep pleasure,

For Arturo has long been misunderstood
seemingly confident and serene
inside he swirled and churned..
he knew of his deepest and wettest desires
as he longed for them amongst the strokes
of pleasure and climax,
He watched the moistened petals part
and wanted his own intimate flower
to seduce with his intoxicating words,
Although Arturo could weave a bewitching spell,
he cared for her with the scarlet mane,
Their passion was timeless yet a tempest that blew
winds of hypnotic and earth shattering ecstasy
He longed to plunge her to the wall
and take what is his while she raged with emotion
He craved the taste of her neck and her sweet spot all the more...
he couldn't help himself..he ached for thew smallest sip
and then drink from the berried rapture,
She ravaged him as she turned and convulsed deep inside her body
He drank of her carnation tinted buds of beauty
and swallowed her whole and hungered still for more,
She writhed in pleasure as he was a vapor swirling above her hair,
her long wings opened wide to show him of their beauty and hidden places
within one another
He stiffened at the length of them
and desired to taste them in his mouth
and bring her to ultimate heights
in the midnight skies as his darkened eyes
looked into hers and the breath drank of the other
in pitch black night of erotic wonder...
Arturo would not ever stop loving her
his precious flower scented with the essence
of incredible need and passionate lust.
