Living In a Pandemic

When the sound of silence, wails
And sobs of crying deafens our fearful minds

Our streets are cold and empty
And there’s no one to be found
Only the shuffling of City workers
As they clean a ghostly town

Storms are silently raging
Uncertainties abound
My soul is contemplating
Disaster is all around

Eyes steering out at the invisible
Imagining faces they once knew
Smiles gaged to breathless
As death takes our point of view

A virus not only taking bodies
But our laughter and our joy
In dire need of a savior
We pull a vaccine from the clouds

Ending are here…

Everything is changing fast
Life is not the same
In this New World Order
Vaccination is not a game
If you don’t conform
In darkness, you’ll remain

Someone turned off the sun
And left us in the rain

Storms are silently raging
Uncertainties abound
My soul is contemplating…
The misery life’s become

Everything is changing
Nothing is the same
May the forces protect you
In this viral age

Arturo, how could I not congratulate you on POTD - I must be honest I have been scarce at times on Soup, as our small business is very demanding and after 30 years in the Medical Industry, although we are a small concern, we are well supported. However, i escape as and when I can to poetry-soup and of course there is a great deal of strife in S. Africa as is shown on news worldwide. Hugs and blessings my friend, Jennifer.

congrats on potd . It's great writing. I guess in some parts of the world where all is shut down, it seems like this. In my state, we have been back to normal for weeks now. Even during last year, I never had anyone getting really sick or dying in my life, so I have not experienced what you are feeling. In fact, I am scared to death I'll have the vaccine forced on me.

Hello Michael, oh so true. Everything is changing. Iam not sure for the better. Although some stores are opened. it is not the shopping malls. they remain closed. Only the stripe malls stores are opened. Only 3 allowed inside. I went to a shoe store and only 4 were allowed in. So sad. Enjoy your dayb my friend.

Sometimes it feels like that. My husband believes the governments are trying to pull the wool over our collective eyes to gain more control of the populace. I believe this virus is no different from any other we have gone through and this vaccination is still in the experimental stage and shouldn't be used on us. Too many people still have adverse reactions to it and many die or are ruined for life by it. Good write my friend, God Bless, JB

Coming from someone who battled Covid 19 yet recovered, I heard and felt every word you explicitly expressed here. Thumbs up to this work Arturo!! Still, I'm an optimist so I will say: After a raging storm, sunbeams return!

My dear Arturo, your gifted heartfelt pen captures the fear and misery of the viral age with poetic poignancy. I especially loved; "Someone turned off the sun / And left us in the rain" - this brilliant verse so artfully describes these dark days. Congratulations for POTD, a wonderful honor for this worthy piece. Warmest wishes, mon ami.. ~Susan

Hello Arturo ... wonderful descriptive lyrics on what the human race has been forced to put up with for our own good. Nature certainly has a way of evolving and not always for our good - thank you Arturo - Lindsay

congrats Arturo on this potd and timely subject matter. FYI I am a minimalist when it comes to traditional medicine but our numbers are still high here and I'm glad I got the vaccine. MRNA vaccines have a unknown plus as they are also good for people who have had skin cancers.
