Ode To Andre P Brink

And so we slip into summer’s season
With questions that does not fit the reason
And as we talk in deepening dusk
An elephant dies with a broken tusk
A great shadow by cloud eclipsed
A man who with a brilliant twist
Could weave the words that changed my heart
Of living together not dying apart
Rumours of rain in a dry white season
You answered my questions that gave me reason
To turn my back on my own brotherhood
To turn towards a future that’s good
Andre P Brink you will live on
As my children’s faces have smiles upon
The freedom you saw and wrote about
So Andre, in honour your name I shout!
You unsung hero of liberation’s fight
As you walk away into that dark night.

I Sing of Andre Kelbrik of South Africa

I
Andre Kelbrik was a realtor in Pretoria, akin to Washinton or Ottowa
I was in South Africa's first free & fair Foreign Ministry, Deputy to Schwarz,
Head of the Communications Hub: we issued DNB, summary of News
To all ambassadors and consulates of South Africa, abroad ...
I had no interest in business. Thanks to Andre, I am a landlord today
I sing of Andre and Marina, who befriended me in PRETORIA, closed to me
Until the election of Nelson Mandela in 1994 (Apr 27), taking office in '95

II
Now, I know the ups and downs of business, even renting out 3 FLATS
I wanted just one, as I was far from family (in Washington, D.C.) -
But Andre kept finding these good deals, and sold me three woonstele
Even helping kick out in 1999, a fellow-Indian, but a scheming tenant
And since then, all my tenants have tried to rob, not pay, squat:
Because of the changing post-apartheid business dispensation
They'd get off (Prayer?) since I was often with my daughters in USA

III
In 2012, my US citizen daughter who turned 21, sponsored me
I had to remain in the US of A, and leave only with USCIS consultation
So I hung in there, being father, pastor, teacher ... tenants went to town
I must have lost a million Rands, good money in any country -
So I know about dangers of democracy, being equal and all -
Yet, there is no other way. We cannot kill to keep what we gained here
Which is but of earth, every treasure, & Earth will claim it all

Carl Andre

I saw a bearded man
and two bricks
one atop another
On a gallery floor
Is that art?
my mind asked itself
The facial expression made me a bit queasy
I may have smiled
but now I don't remember
They protest at Andre's events now
push comes to shove

Andre

andre is some one that is so full of love and that came in like a earthquake within

my soul and stole my wounded heart with a touch and showed my his way of love

and how he was already loving me for me even through within my mind i had so

many doubts about him and why i felt he was in a relationship with me until

some one from above came down and helped to realize that this time ive found a

real intelligent man that to love me and to give him a chance to make it

happen.

andre is some one i can say that im proud of and how i gave our love a chance to

even grow the way it did.

andre is the person that turned my heart from upside down to right side up with

his faith , and courage of still being with me from all the doubts of me fearing that

my heart may have got /getting broken.

andre has shown me that i dont have a reason to get scared with him because

he has the real way of loving me and that is very powerful with the heavenly father,

Premium Member Andre, the Man

we knew the legend but not the man
only when he died
the truth did come to light

known as the gentle giant
his whisper resembling a roar
yet kind to a fault he had a heart of gold

his strength was superhuman
always had a smile it seemed
but in this world he did not fit

in his prime he would keep active
in the ring he made his home
everywhere else he’d be a misfit

too soon the reality of his condition
had his bones crumble
under their own weight

he lived in pain that was unbearable
but truth be told
it was his heart that suffered most

when he no longer was a powerhouse
his soul was disconnected from its north star
adrift in a universe not made for him
