Babylonia Poems | Examples

BABEL

BABEL

It was a tower, built to avoid a second flood
Erected in Babylonia, that Nimrod planned
Using bricks made from sun-hardened mud

It was to deny the power of God’s own hand
But to a proud people it made so much sense
A famous tall building that appeared so grand

But the presumption caused God great offence
So made many languages that few understood
Such that no communication made them tense

A punishment inflicted on all as only God could
So peoples now couldn’t understand each other
As their reach for heaven was not seen as good

Dispersed nations and a new obedient priesthood
As in time, all may even repent, as they should

Ukraine In Pain

A sunflower cries red blood, for Babylon slays it with mirth
May medicine and shields be given to Ukraine en mass
Have mercy on us, Christos Autogenes, bringer of rebirth

May the foes melt as snow in the sun’s light on the Earth
May luck smile on the sunflowers laying on the grass
A sunflower cries red blood, for Babylon slays it with mirth

King Nebuchadnezzar is a poor lion of little worth
He bows down and sacrifices lambs to the blind god Saklas
Have mercy on us, Christos Autogenes, bringer of rebirth

They cry for help, but their voice has not escaped the darkness with mirth
Fire burns in the north and south, in the west and east, alas
A sunflower cries red blood, for Babylon slays it with mirth

If one gives food and drink to the children and seeds of worth
They shall surpass this mighty kingdom of Babylon without brass
Have mercy on us, Christos Autogenes, bringer of rebirth

I ran from the land of Babylonia of my birth
I left Babylonia to make a call on the grass
A sunflower cries red blood, for Babylon slays it with mirth
Have mercy on us, Christos Autogenes, bringer of rebirth

Mount Ararat

The famous mountain where Noah came to rest,
ending the ecliptic flood, building an altar for time as test.
Flourished kingdoms at the upper Tigris grew,
Babylonia and Urardhu created powers to sew.
Persian legends refers the holy Vulcan as the cradle of human race,
Armenians built a monastery in honor to St. Jacob’s pace.
Mount Ararat as omnipresent and utterly elusive,
snow capped peaks imaginative conclusive.
Magical countenance almost not of this earth,
crisp air in endless blue white mountain infinite birth.
Center of legends, myth and story,
the fire God Vahagn stumbles upon Ararat with all gory.
Giving life to Tigris and Euphrates River,
pagans visited ghost of royal ancestor in shiver.
Armenians and their homeland of Kurdistan under fire,
centuries in war for nationhood and holy place entire.
Good spirits in distillation known as Ararat Brandy,
Sir Winston Churchill called his favorite tipple, ‘handy’.
No Arc ever found beside many tries on Mount Ararat still today,
keeping mysteries in holy books still at bay.
