lightning dances~
into cosmic strips of light
illuminating moonless night
as his silhouette sails with hers
succumbing swiftly
into each other's spell
in interlude of idyllic impasse~
as they merge
into the abyss
of amaranthine darkness~
thunder orchestrated
a grandiose finale

Amid taxing toils and ever ebbing throes,
We totter toward the end that must come;
Yielding all stale themes of yester-breath,
Our face as meek as that of a dying lamb.
Such ill-fated Odyssey kicks off with a cry
Of baffled aspects between fright and joy,
And thus unfurls green every puerile soul,
Mocking suns that idly as fierce wasps fly.
In clueless middle of life's vanishing rise,
Beauty's Foe hatches his secret disguise
That steals unseen health's naive gleams,
And in bits confounds her soaring dreams.
At last are her tics shut piece after piece
By plotting Hour who fairer lucks thieves;
And blends of sad sighs and deft disease
Slay any fags of throb swift sunset leaves.
Not so fickle this trembling hand's doleful ink:
It'll kick and roam past Time's snobbish brink!

Oddly,
blue all day.
The sun dragged like blotting brush
across the apse of Sky; dawn apsis
to dusk apsis -
not leaving ink but life.
Not leaving marks but hues.
Blue blue blue blue blues.
The undying beauty, the
amaranthine found now at death of blue...
the reds. The brief bold reds. Death hue.
Life within.
Death without.

Amaranthine ...
A word that goes on ... and on
An endless maelstrom of matter, dark, seething ...
A sea of suns, heaven-ward, burning ...
Grains of sand, unique, precious ... infinite!
Countless snow crystals, drifting ... not ONE the same!
Atoms in the heart of a star - ceaseless!
Photons in a single beam of moonlight, perpetual ...
But the most lasting of all ... undying, immortal ...
Love ... truly, purely, amaranthine!

In the Amaranthine Era
By J. Philip Harris
Of all the echoes that I remember
All the smallish voices that still linger
The precious moments missed which fell through the cracks
like flaking brittle embers
Short lived and long forgotten
Of all the echoes in my box
Ones I can't seem to shake
They move in pangs of lamentation, of longing, of sorrow and regret
Of all the singing songs
The happy tunes I've missed
Ones my children sang in years unnoticed
Yes, the years of squandered time
Like run down homes
The endless ache churns deep within my soul to renovate them
Those avenues are snuffed out flames
Stamped into the rock of time
The chasm between us is of great
But how my soul longs for clemency
How I pine for absolution
Now, here in the rags of my life
Where time has stolen away my verve
Here in the dying down of an old flame
I am stricken with penitence
I am lavished with grief
The stone cannot be rewritten
But it can be forgotten
Extinguished by the One of endless mercy
And there in the Amaranthine era
I will live what once I lost.

I
am
willing
to live my
life forever like
the amaranthine myriad stars
wearing nothing but the moonshine ceaselessly gleaming
smiling gracefully as the wolves
cry out with passion
unrestrained
breathing
for
love.

Therein, laying dormant,
veils of darkly reposed
secrecy 'neath
foamy seascapes'
frenetic passages,
languishing below
sunken treasures'
false facades of
reticently rolling
shrouded bluffs,
shaded blood obscurely hued
of impetuous intensity in
unceremoniously bound
covert convolutions,
a million ancient
undisclosed shadows hidden,
notwithstanding combative
rumblings of death's
unwelcome sycophancy,
depths of centuries'
old unparalleled stories,
whence hush-hush
undulatory influx
of defiant upsurges
and turbulence reside,
that which only the
winds of indiscretion,
clandestine spirits
& gods could surmise
...whilst privileged moons watch over amaranthine skeletons

He kisses like dark skies
Bewitches with dark eyes
And rains down upon me
A mad, storm-born love.
In the wake of him
I am lost betwixt and between
Reality and the illusions thereof.
He shines with blood and fire
Impels me beyond desire
To a realm out of bounds of mind.
We swell and surge like liquid night
Like life in flight
Expanding
unfolding through space and time.
By savage grace I am free
With feral lust I see
The unabashed violent beauty of the night.
With his touch I am razed
With his breath I am saved
And borne up to soar empyrean heights.
Slowly now I return
As softly drips
My love from ensanguined lips
Finitude as surely evanescent as a dream.
With a kiss he whispers my name
Again, again and yet again
Forever and forever and forever
Amaranthine.

Unwavering purple valor
Keenly aware of surrounding
Bent on hell, death before dishonor
Full on heart, strength, astounding
Men of honor these eternal,
Death the infernal obstacle
Alone in field, no burial
Fit to honor this spectacle
So honor them, they the warriors
Who give it all for the wounded
Gave it all for the storied wars
Immortal, they, the Amaranthine.

Our love was saved by candle light,
a flicker of that never ending flame.
We kissed heaven like a bird in flight,
even in our sleep we dream the same.
A balcony scene is where you belong,
like Juliet beneath the lucent moon.
And I, your Romeo, to sing your song,
and warm your heart with my tune.
I feel your hand upon my shoulder,
locks of your hair that trickle down.
The years go by and we grow older,
your eyes retain that youthful brown.
And as our wrinkles start to appear,
we will count them as they come.
As your kisses I still want my dear,
until my lips and yours are numb.
So leave eternity for another day,
and come stay here by my side.
I will caress you sweetly that I may,
separate the Jekyll from the Hyde.
