Unchained bravado surges with a fearless flow
Its thunder shakes the world and lets courage show
Through shadowed nights it strikes with blazing might
And sets the darkened sky ablaze with light
The curtain curtails
as it becomes a hazed colored veil
covering the reflective gaze of ice-covered snow gale;
a glaze ablaze with light dazzled ready to ignite
brilliant, blinding, purest incandescent white
barely warming from distant glowing sunlight;
a gleaming glistening iridescent flow of virgin white
an elusive lucid momentary delight in flight
lost in a glacial granules thaw of pristine innocent delight;
just another February storm laid upon the ground now
silent hushed from the stormy rebound of the human plow
and all is quiet in the furrows of winter's brow.
Crying out to God with problems to face
vying with sleep, my thinking's a chore.
Buying back time while seeking His ear,
trying to pray sounds more like a snore.
How to decide the time that one prays -
vow to start praying ere time is spent,
bow, recognizing distress in life's mess.
Thou, Father God, my empowerment!
Releasing my prayers all through the day,
decreasing the chance of mere desperation,
policing my actions, God's will to unleash,
unceasing prods of prayer's conversation.
Ablaze with light, each new moment is born.
Praise for God's strength after trust's rebirth;
malaise withdraws in the wake of belief.
Thruways of prayer help me cope on earth.

host: Dear Heart
On weekend nights he drank alone
Turning on the phonograph
and dancing with his shadow
House ablaze with light and music
Tables strewn with books and magazines.
Settling into his desk on Monday
He had dark circles under his eyes
And a contentment difficult to understand.
