Your friendship is the gentle blow of wind through the trees The sunlight that warms me and makes me feel toasty The puppy that snuggles up, giving me her soft sigh. To show off my variegated petals, and to shine my truth Your encouraging words allow me to be the fairy pixie I am To flit amongst the trolls, and not be brought down by them Your mirth helps me to bray like a goat, with silliness in my heart. To be fully me, for the cool blueness of your skies shows me love. Your friendship brings me the happiness I need to face this world With its pandemic, and its distrust and its not so gentle ways. Your friendship is the butterfly flitting through the forest Leading me toward the sunlight that glimpses me through the trees You are my soul’s companion, soothing and comforting me In times of happiness and times of stress.
