You See Fear
There's a ghost in your mirror;
an image that will not pass.
And you watch her acid tears
trickling down behind the glass.
Her haggard, defeated face;
reflects a lifetime of lies.
And staring beyond her pain;
you see the fear in her eyes.
She's like an apparition;
what you see cannot be true.
And when you reach out to her,
there is no one there but you.
In your heart, you know her hurt;
she feels she's dying inside.
And you can almost hear her;
contemplating suicide.
You are forced to look away;
for your heart can take no more.
And yet, one day, you may stay;
and watch her open death's door.
