FICTIONAL POEM FOR CONTEST
Ever since the day that you passed away
I’ve struggled with life, it’s been so hard
I crouch by your tiny grave at the churchyard
shedding bitter tears, which are here to stay
I endured rounds of IVF so I could conceive
and I’m finding it extremely difficult to cope
I shut myself in the nursery and silently mope
Your tragic death I find so hard to believe
Nobody can tell me what went so wrong
on the stormy night when you were born
My beloved child, your loss I now mourn
Safe my arms is where you really belong
