Yesterday's Memory
The mask of fervor has faded away
Devotion held, another time and place
Pictures still remain in dust overlaid
Disguised as solitude's empty embrace
A question is asked, why kisses grow cold
To scar the heart's passion with a whip's lash
And cut to bleed secrets the heart can hold
Reason gave formed in a quagmire's ash
The world turned darker, more hollow and still
As recourse was answered to all but one
Somewhere love died upon the farthest hill
All the dreams ended the nightmares begun
Yesterday's memory has questions of whys
To wonder, to dwell, whether it was lies
