Wounded Whisper

Wounded whisper I wish to be free Of hearing your cursed word Undo your horrid hold on me No more of this self hate you've stirred Don't deny me contentment Everyone deserves that much Dour notes of resentment Wishes for happiness I still clutch Hope waxes and wanes as I am held tight In your mighty grip Sorrow starting to dim the light Painful descent in which I slip Eradicate my narrative Release me This or That, Vol 18 Poetry Contest 21st May 2023 Sponsored by: Edward Ibeh

A heartfelt plea ! Actually there is no reason for self hate. But sometimes, because of our special mental condition and the turn of circumstances, we slip into self denigration. I can relate. All the Best dear DD
