Worms of Sadness
Sadness creeps. Approaches the depths of my toes,
Sails in silence through to my calves,
Sprouts mournful pricks of pain in my knees,
Slithers to my thighs to shoot my stomach.
I become a moan as sadness squirms.
A monstrous worm creeps slowly to my heart,
Lays its eggs so they develop sharp spikes.
My lungs leak, as they are filled with holes so
It is hard to breathe. My throat is locked in dryness,
Then the worms escape. They crawl out.
My lips part to speak, to yell, to free myself but
Sadness creeps. So worms emerge instead.
My mouth trembles as worms spill over lips.
Sadness creeps.
