Words That Hold No Water

From urine the English made urinal; the French were no less practical. From "pisser" they made pissoir, a noun a feature in many a mensroom found. The overly refined and prudish, of course, consider the French incorrigibly coarse. The only proper verb they indicate to use when one has to pee is urinate, and not that English monosyllable lopped off from its French original. And, therefore, men, at nature’s call enjoy the use of a pissoir or urinal. And only a stickler will stop to quibble which to use when pressed to piddle.

Very funny. LOL When one has to go it really doesn't matter much, does it? A pleasure to read you today, Maurice. Do you still have your dog, Bonzo?

Thanks for stopping by, Dan. Yes, but he's a new Bonzo going on seven years now. The first Bonzo had to be put down for cancer; he was 14 years ago. The present Bonzo is everything a man of my advance age desires (I'm heading for 85 years and more): he's affectionate, rarely barks, timid, yet playful. Except for the barking, he could pass to a doting wife! / Maurice
