Listen to poem:

Wonder Girl

She stood, feet apart with her hands on her hips
With long golden hair and her moist crimson lips
Her cape it was yellow, her pleated skirt, red
And a golden tiara she wore on her head

Wonder Girl… Super Girl,
what was her name?
She wasn’t some actor
of Hollywood fame
For at seven paces
With hands on her hips
I swear that I felt
her kiss on my lips!

Her eyes held my glare and I wanted her there
But I was enrapt and did nothing but stare
I tried to act cool, and gazed back without blinking…
Can she read my mind, does she know what I’m thinking?

Legs up to her armpits, her red skirt so short
Any young man would have had the same thought
Her outfit ensnared me but I’ll keep this brief
For I wondered what she might wear underneath!!

Wonder Girl… Super Girl,
what was her name?
She wasn’t some actor
of Hollywood fame
I knew she was real
for one blink of her eye
Made my heart race
And I thought I might die

She gave me a wink and she took to the sky
I made no pursuit… I’m a non-flying guy
Had I had the means I’d have followed her there
And we’d become one, hand in hand in the air.

Wonder Girl… Super Girl,
What was her name
Would she fly away home
Would I see her again
The clouds above rumbled
As she thundered through
Then she landed before me
And said, “Hello You.”

[She]
“I sense you have a fancy for me, or my fancy suit
And as we’re talking costumes then your own is rather cute
Might you be a player in the superhero game
And if you are I’d like to know your superhero name.”

[He]
“Enchanted, young lady… My name is Bruce Wayne,
But some people know me as BAT.”

[She]
“Next-you’ll be saying you’ve got your own cave
But BAT?… I won’t be calling you, THAT!”

Wonder girl… Super girl,
from heaven was sent
But shaking her head…
She just upped and she went
Up into the sky
And was gone from my eye
I asked myself then
Will I see her… again

Wonder Girl… Super Girl,
what was her name?
I found her and lost her
The day that she came
I can’t help but wonder
Where might she be now?
I asked the boy wonder
He said,… “Holy Cow!”

Glad you enjoyed this so much, Deb. Apologies for my own tardy reply. Alas, there is much animosity among ‘real’ musicians, against AI music. It is a fact that a lot of AI users basically say, ‘write me a song and add some music.’ I even suspect that some of those people release the resultant song to Spotify etc without even looking for errors. I doubt you’ll remember my ‘Cowboy Shooters on Motor Scooters’ but when I put that to music…. a chapati became a SHAPP-ER-TIE. I’m still pondering the notion of an alien race called the Shappertye! I won’t say, ‘watch this space’ cos my brain is doing part-time shifts right now…. The Shappertye grabbed Sausage Man, they stuck him in a frying pan, but nice and brown he stood his ground, no Shappertye can now be found…. POTD…. probably not ;-)

Thanks, Ilene. Been off-site for a while, mainly because I’ve been sat seven hours a day at Annie’s bedside and then fighting the bots into the early hours to get three songs right (this being one of them). It’s changing instruments or voices that is most problematic…. The bots insist on the girls singing the boys bits and Vicky Verka… Even AI has gone woke, it seems. So glad you enjoyed this, it exceeded even my own expectations. ;-)

Belated reply… Annie, is getting there… can’t really say what was wrong as no diagnosis was forthcoming… but try this for size… she’s on medication that keeps her blood pressure DOWN… but her blood pressure still went stratospheric… so they WITHDREW her blood pressure reducing meds! When I had the audacity to query that counterintuitive action… the consultant disappeared and was never seen again. You think I jest! I DO NOT JEST!

Thanks again, Jan. Well chuffed with POTD with this poem/song. Nearly gave up on it, but one more ‘one more try’ clinched it. Alas, ‘Hospital Opera’ is still not playing ball… May still post it for the hell of it…otherwise it seems I may still be working on it when I’m ninety seven… watch this space

Hello you! You’re amazing with the way you do these, Terry. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a recording done with male and female verses. I’m sure it was painstaking for you but definitely worth it. Faved by me, too! My thoughts are for Annie’s quick healing. ;-)

Thanks, Lin and thanks for the fave. One of the most frustrating things about the AI music generators is that once they’ve made one version of a song they become seriously stuck in the mud. So if I decide a verse should be sung by a female contralto but after a listen decide I’d prefer a soprano….. it’s like they cock a deffun. If you then try to generate a brand new version rather than a tweaked (cover) version… you’d better change the title too, cos the sneaky little blighters remember EVERYTHING! Of course that’s all overridden by the sheer joy of specifying a female mezzo-soprano… and you get Pava-flaming-rotti. By the way… did you know some robots pronounce Tiara, Tee-airer? No, neither did I. Grrrrrrrr ;-)

I feel the same way regarding AI poetry on a poetry site, Jan. Similarly, I’d never post AI music on a music site. Everything in its place, I guess. But, as a man who couldn’t get a note out of a tambourine if I threw it at a barn door… well… it’s AI or nowt. I have a quiet little snigger when I hear people say, “AI… press a button, get a song.” This song/tune is the result of weeks of tweaking and frenetic spellings before… HEY PRESTO…. A song… on the 158th version (I kid you not). Annie’s been in hospital for a week and a half… I’ve been working on a song called ‘Hospital Opera’ since the day she went in. It really hasn’t wanted to play ball, but… today, version 200 plus finally sounds how I want it… and that still needs a ‘male voice’ sentance to be edited in. Providing that doesn’t take another 100 re-runs, I’ll present it to the world soon… maybe on Top of The Pops…. O… hang about ;-)
