Notes About The Poem

1.Victoria Woodhull ran in 1872 as a candidate of the Equal Rights Party against Ulysses S. Grant (R) and Horace Greeley (D). First female presidential candidate, she also ran the first women-run financial firm on Wall Street with her sister.

2.Belva Anne Lockwood ran twice (first in 1884 and again in 1888) as a presidential candidate of the Equal Rights Party. After intensively lobbying Congress to admit women to the Supreme Court bar, she became the first female attorney to argue a case in front of the Supreme Court.

3.Marietta Stowe ran as vice president to Belva Ann Lockwood in 1884, making her the first woman to run for the role. Founded and edited "Women's Herald of Industry" vocal advocate for women's suffrage.

4.Lena Springs became the first woman to be nominated for the VP position by the Democratic party in 1924.

5.Charlotta Spears Bass was the first Black woman to run for VP in 1952. She was the editor and publisher of the California Eagle, one of the oldest and most influential Black newspapers in the US.

Let’s not go backward but move forward!

Remember the repatriation of Mexican Americans in the 1930’s

Song for this:  Plane Crash over Los Gatos  “Deportee”  by Woody Guthrie

Woman President

Woman President

A dream come true,
I was always told it was possible
A woman president

Could anyone have predicted it
Many women have run for equal rights
in the past, we’re here and now
It might as well be you
Worn down is your spontaneous laugh
reduced to a serious hum
Working hard to keep our country free
Gee—wiz already you have made history
In the role of Vice Presidency

A dream come true,
I was always told it was possible
A woman president

It may as well be you

Kamala for President!

Trump is a sorry example of American masculinity his toxic testosterone fueled rhetoric presents a shameful portrait of our great nation. Kamala on the other hand is eloquent and levelheaded. He intends to uproot and deport 15 million aliens and their kids born here, including those who harvest our fruit and vegetables. Who will do that job? Inflation will skyrocket in grocery stores! Great song choice, there was a massive deportation in the 30's. Playing games, we need you, we don't. Robert

I didn't know about the Woody Guthrie song 'til I heard it with the news about the deportees. The 'Central Park Five' sue Trump for defamation. Exonerated! Trump wanted them executed. Hello! Ty for being a precious soul who cares about women's rights!

Anaya, Yes Please! Some would rather give the reigns to a demented psychotic man-ape rather than to a woman who understands how a capitalist society can function for all. The only 4 reasons I could see supporting the wannabe narcissist are (1) I am a super-rich selfish piece of crap with massive hoards of money, (2) I'm a right-wing religious fanatic, (3) I'm a white supremacist, or (4) I'm an employee of a dictator like Putin. The thread below provides a lesson about motives.

Duke, a beautiful Saturday, isn't it? Well said, I couldn't have said it better! Nobody does it better than you—Carly. Makes me feel sad for the rest. It reminds me of the long list of singers and bands SUING him for using their songs! In the early days of the COVID-19 then-President Donald Trump sent President Vladimir Putin a COVID-19 test machine! Kamala addressed it during an interview with Howard Stern, "Everybody was scrambling to get these kits, these COVID test kits, and this guy, who's president of the United States, is sending them to Russia, this murderous dictator, for his personal use?" Slam! One more..."Day Of Love" That's plenty of material for your political Limericks dear, Duke!

Some are hinting that a woman isn't strong to be commander and chief of our military, Kamala is stronger on defense than Trump. She realizes that the dictators are dangerous foes and NOT buddies. Kamala will help fight Russia's aggression where Trump will allow a world war to brew. She is most fit for the toughest job in the world, she'll end the war in Gaza and defend the free world, and what America does the rest of the free world follow.

Dear Anaya, your timely poem is inspiring and beautifully expressed. I'm on the same poetic political page as you. In regards to what our dear fellow poet, Arlo, stated in his reply to you, I respectfully disagree with his concept of a "God-ordained" gov. I respect Arlo's religious beliefs, but in the United States of America, there shouldn't be any political party that is considered to be "God-ordained". The U.S. Constitution represents the rule of law and reason.. and most importantly, the separation of Church and State. Warmest wishes to you both, Anaya and Arlo.. ~Susan

Susan I am so happy first to see you and that you have taught us a good US civics lesson. You have presented us with what I should have and respectfully. Taught in High school of American civics, others who seem to know little or nothing about the workings of our gov. "Separation of church and state" is basic. Ty Susan, you are a most talented poetess and have your finger on the pulse of our political climate. Reason and knowledge are key!

My wise vote is signed sealed and delivered, last Friday! “Thou shall not bear false witness”—one of the ten commandments. Especially when it comes to election outcomes. Trump denigrated early voting (mail-in) for so long, insisting to voters to vote on the day of the election a Republican tradition. (paranoia) why, because there are those who have three jobs, btw ONE job should be enough! and or other life's things that restrict them and that is why the Mail-in vote is just the right thing for them.

No way. We want a woman who believes in Constitutional Republic, not Karl Marx. Disaster looms. Vote as you deem the platform will serve every American CITIZEN. Looking forward to 1984 world created by her residency? Respect.

You described my party and the GOP before Maga. Hope you get my drift. In America we have choices, choose wisely Arlo. You're welcome anytime you want to learn something, I'm here for everyone. Cheers to us patriots!

Respectfully, I seek a strong constitutional, God-ordained, limited government that addresses the everyday needs of everyday people. The party that seems to offer that is not led by Joe. In America we have choices and lately they have become quite serious. U b u, Anaya. I b moi. My time here has been well spent and I'll clock off for others to engage as they will, respectfully, of course. ;o))

Lol. Arlo, I never guessed that you would be the one to vote for a dictator in a federation made up of every race and religion. It won't be easy for him to consolidate that kind of power in America. We're awake, sanity please, this isn't Germany in the 30's and 40's, all though your man uses Mein Kampf as a propaganda play book. The worst thing you can say about Kamala (a capitalist), is she's New-Deal Democrat. :)

You really want a DEI pick for President? Also, she spent the last four years telling us that Joe was sharp as a tack and on top of his game. She knew he was a babbling fool. We could all see it. Dementia? What dementia? One day you’ll get a woman president but it won’t be Ms Flip Flop. Like your passion though.

Ty, Terestrial, I mean, lol. I like her loyalty to Biden, stuck by him even towards the end, but be sure it's not the end. Just the beginning. I C u're still marching in lockstep with Herr Trump.Ty for the visit!
