The Shadow of My Broken Heart
Listen to poem:
icy tears fall like December rain-
within the shadow of a broken heart
I flee into ashes of a somber folly,
surrendering under the silent stars
I close my eyes and sway to the
rhythm of your midnight lullaby;
(a melody I often replay in my mind)
in empty meadows where dandelions
once tarried, I await the moment
I can take a break and make an
angel in the snow-
for I cannot breathe without you
right next to me
your colorless memory remembers
not our nights of irresistible passion-
I anticipate the harvest moon;
maybe I will see your silhouette
within
the shadow of my broken heart
