In February of 1980 ( 2-80 ), I had finished exactly 500 poems
recorded in journals since my start of logging my
poems in since 1974. That was with my first six years of writing....
In February of this year (2-20), I started again composing poems
in a private journal. Poems not to be seen by anybody until after
my passing. I decided this morn at 3 am to compose these two sonnets,
in a positive and uplifting shift now to steer myself into seeing
life for what it is-- "a truly precious gift".
And hope with my doing so, that my recent blues shall be diminished
and even eventually be cast completely away. If so, this will be a fruitful
8 hours spent composing... And a joy celebrated.. God bless....
Such explains the numbers I set to reach when I started this task.
I have always loved Math, History, Nature, Poetry and Reading.-RJL.
Within Hope And Revelation, Conversation With Dawn's Promise, Double Sonnets I. - (The Questioning, Man's Sad Blindness) Dawn have you come again bearing sweet gifts to dance anew as this earth's sunlight shifts, welcome friend, ever glowing boldly bright dear relief from former darkness of night, as morning's first call, to wake- be alive ponder this spinning realm, seeking to strive. Dawn do you soft cry as you fade away bemoan loss of joy brought by break of day, dread the arrival of sun-cast high noon envy night's beauty with its golden moon, alas, 'tis your heart bursting all the more for worship of you, as sad souls implore? Dawn will you, this blessed day, watch me pray begging God's love in this my life, please stay? ~~~ II. - (The Revelations And Light Shone) I am dawn's truth, to you I now reply from me you seek more, may I ask you why, why my resplendent glowing, sweetest gifts are not enough to your sad soul uplift, dare I change, in error, my dance alter because within you, sorrows now falter? I dawn proclaim, light's power is my fame you must now see, living is not a game, in brilliant new rays, jewels are thus cast inspiration- seek love's touch, joy that lasts, revelation, learn to love life anew allow brighter glows cast away your blues. I dawn to you, this solemn vow now make gifting you gems, as my light - darkness breaks! Robert J. Lindley, 8/30/2020 Double sonnets- ( Hoping To Inspire Others When Life Beats Them Down)

You have channeled Coleridge for certain, and he is my favorite poet. "dread the arrival of sun-cast high noon envy night's beauty with its golden moon, alas, 'tis your heart bursting all the more for worship of you, as sad souls implore?" Well done!

That quick poem fragment splashed out, came from my youthful memories of Coleridge's classic poem, "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner- inspiration given by your mentioning Coleridge... Thanks, gives me a thought to maybe finish it today.. God bless....

Thank you my friend. Coleridge, definitely a golden poet that this old soul admires and loves. *One winter night, a glimpse I thought I saw Fearful it was, a most hideous claw, Into the next room it so quickly fled Whilst I, in abject fear trembled in bed. Afraid to look, also afraid to move I heard dancing there, feet tapping a groove Then a ghastly cold voice roared and this said I am part of the dreams your night sleep bled Come hither, if youthful scared soul can dare I have dark mysteries and clues to share Nay, you are wicked and I am no fool Soon morn's breakfast I'll eat then off to school Next came sinister laugh, haughty goodbye Echo came, see you again when you die-

"...seek love's touch, joy that lasts, revelation, learn to love life anew allow brighter glows take away your blues..." Brilliant! Figuratively and Literally :) A Fav for me, Robert. "Darkness breaks!" ~Mark

Thank you my friend. Writing brings renewed strength, growing calm. Giving heart's sweet release, a healing balm. Putting pen to paper, thus splashing ink. Gifts hope's promise, oft more than one would think. God bless....

Thank you my friend. I am today fairing better. I see poetry as a healing and beautiful blessing. As something a poet must be true to by doing exactly that- putting heart and soul into each and every piece that is given unto the world. God bless..
