With Apology To John Newton

Can you tell me how it happened to me? What brought me from shadow into light Where faith once struggled inside my breast, Now is peace beyond the sacred blight. Can you tell me how it happened to me? While I longingly stood on the broken shore looking at the vastness of space beyond Then saw an infinite future as so much more Than religion's fabled heaven or hell. Can you tell me how it happened to me? That once I was lost, but now am found That once I was blind, but now I see. The time about which I fervently speak Came while pondering on earth from space Seeing how exceptionally insignificant I am When my smallness looks me squarely in the face. Lmilton, this is a very powerful expression of faith, alluding to the famous words of Amazing Grace. John Newton was also filled with wonder, at 'how precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed'. I enjoyed this very much! ~ John

Honestly, John, this was a very difficult poem for me. I mean it was slow coming through like I wanted it to. Your words mean a lot to me. Thanks so much!

Or as I remember Blakes words.....’To see heaven in a wildflower or a universe in a grain of sand.’ Wonderful musings here. SuZ
