Blowing out candles on a birthday cake
or watching a shooting star fall to Earth;
are when we make a wish, we hope comes true.
We are unwilling to dismiss magic;
for fantasy's part of reality,
stretching the limits of what hope can do.
A wish is an improbable desire;
it may be personal and unspoken,
or it may be as cliche as world peace.
The enchantment behind making a wish,
is if we believe, we may be granted
our desire, or at least our odds increase.
A wish makes the unlikely possible,
if only in your imagination;
and it can imbue hope where there was none.
A wish lets you enter the world of dreams;
where spells and superstitions still exist,
and things, like knock on wood, are said and done.
