Winter Wedding
WINTER WEDDING
In mid-winter we will be wed:
Waiting so long is a weary task,
Oh, that the cool whiteness could be sped !
Till I’m kissing her pure damask
No other favour will I ask.
How my heart waits for winter’s embrace:
Running warm through her frosted trees,
And the feel of snow flakes on my face,
Watching the river’s fastness slow to freeze,
The warmth of ski-run and feel of breeze.
Our hands touch in warmth and we know
As my love walks close by me in a hush
There’s only a few weeks to go :
My heart overflows at her special blush.
How I wish winter would arrive in a rush!
