Winkle Park
Winkle Park Night
Winkle Park Night
In the silence of this night alone with pounding heart
listening to the whispering sounds of winds
in the trees seen in the starlight’s night
felt shimmering force hidden in eternal light
Yet the dogs keep alert day and night.
I hear the coyotes yipe, the police
drive by sirens blaring in the nearby park
men hiding in the dirt and woods
and the dogs continue to bark and howl
this seems a cold and dark earth tonight
like this cancer rare and deep. the fatigue,
all the work done today chemicals and radiatnt light
full moon, wolf moon owls hoot
and mice cry out at night
