Happy days of wine and roses were illusions, tethered to hope. Sharp shards of broken promises; clips the wings of a fledgling heart. Torrential tears begin to flow, raising the tides of self-pity. And you entertain multitudes of intensified emotions. Taking a moment, you reflect upon the innocence of youth. And the intimate, sexual side of love that stirs libidos. You remember falling in love and how remarkable that felt. You thought love would last forever, and yet, it has abandoned you. You felt it slip through your fingers like cascading grains of loose sand. And watched depression morph into a morbid melancholy mood.

Emile, I like this poem. I remember the movie through the wonderful theme. Lee Ann Remick was a gifted actress. Jack Lemmon was too (he played a woman in Billy Wilder's 'Some Like It Hot' starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and himself). Miss them all. -Richard
