Windwalker

I walked into the wind, palms of my hands facing forward, arms spread like the wings of a bird. I closed my eyes. The wind penetrated my clothes, it wrapped around my skin. For once, I felt alive. Inhaling through my nose, I smelled the grass, the trees, the mountains. I smelled Earth from the beginning of time. My body lifted off the ground, and a smile took over my face. My heart swelled in my chest. I was one with the sky. I was an eagle.
