Windsong

~ In eggshell dark before the dawn, I've tiptoed out to touch the stars. It's empty where my heart belongs. In eggshell dark, before the dawn, one star, we both had wished upon, contrived with wind, to take you far. In eggshell dark, before the dawn, I've tiptoed out to touch the stars. I call your name. It echoes on, praying that, somewhere, you listen. Wind stirs the words, but dreams are gone I call your name. It echoes on. Without you here, there is no song. Sunrise comes, yet stars still glisten I call your name. It echoes on, praying that, somewhere, you listen

you never fail me, carrie! a lovely double triolet here: poised, poignant, beautifully penned; andrea was right - I do love it! (it's striking how similar the three 1st place poems are in subject matter) congrats on your 1st place win in my contest :)
