Wild Strawberries

I remember the first time I found, tasted, wild strawberries. I was not looking for them, but there they were. A treasure, a gift, as I walked through a sunny, early summer meadow. Warm, sweet, a delicious time with a simple pleasure. They could as easily have been overlooked…but were not. The moment fills my senses fifty years on.
