What is it like to be truly in love? Is it a feeling, a thought, an action, time, or a gift?  Perhaps to someone like me, it is like Wild Mountain Honey!

-----------------

Old Mountain tales of love spin 'neath dawn's blush, Elderberries, purple ink drop pearls, drawing me nigh. Ah! Her laughter, a honeybee’s dance in summer’s rush, Ignites my days with passion, 'tis morn I cry. Calm, twilight lingers, her words soft and low, In the caress of wildflowers, life’s tranquility forever grows. O'! Upon thy lips, such sweetness dwells, God's design, Born where dandelions and wild bees intertwine. O', nectar kissed by sun, untouched by human hand, An arcadian panorama of ambrosia upon my senses' land. Thine gaze, a beacon in the moonlit’s velvet light, A guiding star ignites my spirit’s journey, O' my soul’s delight. As life-alchemists seek nectar in the mountain’s heart, Thy love's enchanting lore, a peace, like nestling lark. The sage sighs, thymes' tempting lore, a pure chorus, Heather fills rolling landscapes, an untold story before us. Yes, love's confession takes flight with wild abandon, In the sanctuary, a haven bathed in golden dawn. Thy touch, a sacred psalm, sonnet on the wind, Radiant grace, I scribe my song on every blossom's stem. Sunlight filters through sylvan green leaves, just for you, Thy smile, a warmth that sees my spirit through and through. Our love, eternal, untamed by fleeting space or time, A taste of heaven's dew, a love of purest and most divine. Together, hand in hand, we'll stray through life's inviolate maze, Where wildflowers bloom, and hearts forever graze. No jeweled crown, arrayed in silks and finery, Could display the love, my beloved, I found forever in thee. For You are my sweet lady, my songbird, my forever home, My wild mountain honey, where my spirit roams. In thee, a love unbound, sweeter than sun-kissed dew, My Wild Mountain Honey, forever wild, forever true.

Dear Regina, thank you for your wonderful words of affirmation. This is a fave for me Because I grew up on a farm and we had our own mountain we used for our sawmill. Yes, we had bees aplenty including wild mountain honey bees and as a boy I would explore that mountain and would come across the honey which was always a great love and joy. Have a blessed Sunday, my poet friend, - Daniel

It's a wonderfully described feeling indeed that captures the feelings of attraction and love. I sense these feelings with my own wife and love how you have it packaged as a product. It gives me pause and I will take more time to look at my own love and apply these metaphors just for the fun of it. In our rushed helter-skelter lives, we don't take enough time to let us have these treats.

Dear Duke, I'm thrilled that the poem resonated with your experience with your wife. It’s wonderful to hear how it invited deeper reflection on your own love. You're absolutely right; in our busy lives, slowing down to savor these "treats" is crucial. It's why I love capturing emotions in poetry - it provides a pause to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments. Keep celebrating love with your wife, and keep sharing your thoughts! - Blessings, Daniel

Dearest Wen, Your comment on my poem brought a smile as wide as the open fields described in its verses! "Scrumptious" is definitely not a word I hear associated with poetry often but coming from you, it feels like the highest compliment. I absolutely adore your analogy of the poem. You excel in the descriptions of the beloved's laughter, gaze, and touch are imbued with a sense of reverence and awe, portraying them as sources of light, warmth, and inspiration. The comparison of the beloved to "nectar kissed by sun" and "a beacon in the moonlit’s velvet light" reinforces their ethereal and divine qualities.

All of your verses speak of love at a height taller than any mountain. With her eyes serving as a beacon in the moon's velvet light there's no need for a word, just her gaze. Nice touch to mention sage and thyme, Daniel. Such a love is much sweeter than anything a honeybee could produce.

Hello Tom, Thank you for your kind comments. I grew up on a farm that had mountains around half of it. I used to climb those mountains with my brothers and cousins, and now and again, we would come across Wild Mountain Honey. In my research of the name, I came across a Honey brand called Wild Mountain Honey, and I also know of Steve Miller's song of the same. I thought it was time to have a poem that could capture the essence of love. Have a great day, my friend! - Blessings, Daniel
