Why Would Poe's Lonely Ghost Dare To Haunt Me
Why Would Poe's Lonely Ghost Dare To Haunt Me
Where I see ghosts rising from wayward hills
Brilliant streaks in lone solitary arcs
Darkest nights, such sights sends shivering chills
One knows such flashes are not imagined sparks
I see shadows dancing in moonlit clouds
Somber music bellows out their hatred
Some show hideous faces from behind shrouds
Sending down deep repugnant smells so putrid
Shall I just decide to call it bad dreams
Or Fate's wicked curse nightly sent my way
Edgar Allen Poe's words meld into my screams
Born of wicked-black deeds of my darkest days
Why would Poe's lonely ghost dare to haunt me
This poet's feeble words can not set him free

Note: My son Justin, asked me to write a scary, dark poem.
Instantly Edgar Allen Poe came to mind.
These days everyone is a bold critic.. He at ten years old, after reading this, asked me to please write one a bit better!!
Take a guess at this ego bruised , dad-the tired poet's reply...
My muse laughed out loud and I wanted to sit down and cry....
