Why The Wild Flowers Grow
I sense a kinship
(why the Wild Flowers grow)
how wildly they grow
freely they grow
unkempt fields
Spring's showery quench
seeming no care of pruning --
Sun the selfless charge of Nature's light
grooming
In season's dusk, green leaves
dutifully giving way for
skeletal presence of leafless
far more somber trees
such ordained passing~ all for renewing,
for ultimate re-blooming --
a toning reminder
as I freckle, yawn and creak --
my perennial soul, like that of the Wild Flowers
is faithfully, blessedly attended
under God's eternal, loving keep --
