This poem dismantles the myth of blame when relationships fail. It’s a declaration of truth for those who stayed, who showed up, who held on — and were still left behind.
“I’m seeing someone else.”
Yes —
she left for the wrong reasons.
For another 'love'.
For a thrill.
For a mirror that told her
what you no longer said.
“I’m not in love with you.”
She stopped loving you.
Stopped caring.
Not overnight . . .
but slowly,
like petals falling from a flower
you forgot to water.
“You don’t have what I want.”
You lacked. Whatever that meant.
Not just money . . .
but patience,
grace,
the will to keep building
on a foundation
you both stopped checking for cracks.
“You don’t have it anymore.”
The lustre is gone.
Or maybe,
you lost hers.
The shine faded
under the weight of routine,
resentment,
and silence.
But Still
She didn’t leave
because you were unworthy.
She left
because she stopped remembering
why you were.
She didn’t leave
because you failed.
She left
because she forgot
how to forgive.
She didn’t leave
because you changed.
She left
because she did —
and neither of you
said it out loud.
Final Word
So yes . . .
sometimes love ends
for the wrong reasons.
But even wrong reasons
are still reasons.
And even broken choices
leave broken hearts.
She left.
And maybe she shouldn’t have.
But now,
you must stay, a lone lion,
with yourself.
And choose
what kind of man
you’ll be next.
