Why I Must Be a Business Scholar
I must be a business scholar, because business makes me uncomfortable, and discomfort
always fosters growth.
I must be a business scholar, because I both hate and love Business, but am convinced of
its power to change the world.
I must be a business scholar, because the very thought of cracking the code of its
technology to heal the world, both torments and drives me.
I must be a business scholar, because I don’t fit into its nice neat categories, and thus
am a tempered radical to transform it from within.
I must be a business scholar, because like the Tony Brown’s and Jim Witte’s before me, I
must use the master’s tools to dismantle his house,
I must be a business scholar, because only from the belly of the beast can one redirect
its momentum,
I must be a business scholar, because my people are tired of Christian Charity and Marxist
soliloquies,
I must be a business scholar, because the world has exploited the inspiration of my
ancestors all the while shaming them out of accruing wealth,
I must be a business scholar, because it is the arena in which I am least equipped to
excel, and it is in our weakness that God uses us the most,
I must be a business scholar because my people need me to be, and so failure is not an option.
