Who You Are

You may be older, but that doesn't make you smarter. You may be taller, but that doesn't make you stronger. You may be prettier, but that doesn't make you kinder. You may be popular, but that doesn't make you loyal. What you look like on the outside, Doesn't reflect who you are. What you have on the inside matters, Keep your traits over looks. You can be smarter, yet younger, Shorter, yet stronger, Ugly, yet kinder, And a no one, yet more loyal. Those the traits are the things that matter, Looks aren't everything. If you can’t judge a book by its cover, Why judge people by their looks.

"What you have on the inside matters" We at poetrysoup.com have poetry inside and that makes us more important than most people. Someone said something like that to me at a Singles get together recently. Nice job! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Wonderful writing. And your thoughts are absolutely on target. Years ago when I was surviving on the mean streets of America I had an old man tell me, "Your nice wavy hair won't take you far." He was correct I was to find out in not too many years. So! To say I relate to this indepth poem is putting it mildly.

very nicely done. You hit it straight on. but many people will never realize that. I learned as a child to work on the me inside not of the flesh. My inner beauty is what matters. It is who I am in life the visual parts of me and the actions that sometimes follow are what I am to and in this world. I found I had to live in this world but not for it or with it Great poem....... My favorite on here so far
